The title says it all. Let's hope this droopy-faced dope just stops making stupid films with Asians of any kind in it.

If you read your own link you'd know Nicolas Cage didn't have any say in the screenplay. :P This is a remake of a Thai film written and directed by two asian guys; the screenplay was reworked by a white guy but the movie was directed by the same two asians. While I'd love to blame the white guy, my guess is that the original movie was lame and a certain amount of blame rests on these asian guys for not only letting Hollywood go through with this, but actually directly taking part in it and putting their names on it. Definitely not a +1 for asians in Hollywood.

I think the point is that Nicolas Cage is a famous actor. Meaning he does have a bit of influence on some people. The question is, why would he let himself play a role that could be racist?

But then again, I actually really...really...hate his acting anyways. Haha.

... You're talking about the same douche who goes to Korean bars and he named his poor, hapa kid KAL-EL.

KAL-EL.

RE: That fuck wouldn't know what'd be racist, muchless racist against Asians if his wife wised up and schooled his ass on it.

The way I understood it, the original was fine. Just as Ringu was fine, and Ju-On was fine. In other words, not needing to be remade by American filmmakers.

And I find it convenient in this particular remake, only one character really got "remade."

I haven't seen the original film. Both the original and the Hollywood were made by the Pang Brothers--hee, one of them is named Oxide, which is awesome. I think this film was their attempt to cash in.

It's another case of Hollywood not understanding what is good about Asian directors and Asian film and fucking it all up in the process--as Senkeh said, "remaking" just one character.

Hah, thanks for schooling me, I've never cared about him enough to take note of that.

My opinion of Nicolas Cage still stands as, "Why the hell is this guy even on screen?" But you just took my low standards of him and...Well, I can't find it on my chart anymore.

He was born into the right family.

It was directed by the same guys as the original.

The screenplay was rewritten by an American, but the original directors had a pretty big hand in it- that's the point I was trying to make.

Here's the Coppola family tree (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coppola_family_tree).

But whatever you think of the man, you've just got to love that finely tailored suit.

Look at those fitted lines! Definately bespoke.
He must have had it cut on Savile Row, or perhaps Hong Kong?

How did The Sartorialist miss this one?

I see what you mean King, I love how the suit fits over his gut

Is it just me, or is his woman, like, unbearably fine? As in waaaaaay too fine to be on his arm?

I don't know about Cage's wife being "fine." She's okay, I suppose.

To be honest, that picture looks more like a decrepit old White guy holding hands with his adopted transracial daughter from Asia (which seems to be all the "rage" in Hollywood).

Cage himself looks like Dorian Gray, while his wife is a munchkin standing next to him.

Yeah, she's totally way too fine for him. Though I suppose, that's why he became an actor. Otherwise he'd just be a scary guy who likes Elvis way too much.

You're right, THX

There is something of the Lemony Snicket about him.

IMO, she's really fine. Especially when standing next to him. Good shape, good skin, great style.

She's aight.

I've seen hotter Korean girls working at the local tofu soup joint, tho.

She's about a 6 as far as Korean girls go. She's gonna turn into one thick-faced ajumma in a few years, trust me. Grils like her a dime a dozen in Korea; big bobble head, short "dari" (leg).

You are truly too cold, brotha Kimtae...

However, it's a good thing Nicholas Cage didn't make a dime on this,
or he might actually have a dozen.

Just telling it like it is, besides, you should hear what the Korean girls over here think of her, they're brutal on her, not that too many actually really care. Korean guys are always surprised that a one time A-list star couldn't do better.

He actually was, like in the 90s. About the same time that Wesley Snipes was an A-lister.

Nic's films have sucked lately so I'm not surprised that this one is a flop. I honestly don't think he's made a good film since Face/Off, and that was over 10 years ago!

Face Off??? ... let's push that all the way back to Leaving Las Vegas

I just saw the original movie last night, and it was actually pretty good. A little thin story-wise (I found myself wanting to know more about the main character's friend), but everything else was great.

I heard Adaptation was pretty good.

I remember seeing trailers for that movie and thinking to myself that Nic Cage looked like one of those creepy tourists in Thailand that ends up with one of those Thai shemale hookers...
