I am reaching out to all of you for suggestions. My partners and I are looking for Mandarin-language pop music to be featured in a film project. What we're looking for specifically are ballads, hard-driving rock, and perhaps a sampling of dance music. The Artists don't necessarily need to be the Mega Stars but not totally obscure either; we'll deal with the licensing accordingly. Any names/bios, web vids, URLs, etc. would be a big help as well as lyrics that have translations into English (We need to know the lyrical content of course). It would also be a boost if the Artists are from the Mainland, but we won't rule out Taiwanese Artists. We will sift through all of the Artists whether they are the Mega Stars or not.

The only dimes I can drop about the project at this point are that it's a modern day action-driven pic featuring English, Japanese, and Mandarin language, and that the locations are in Beijing, Tokyo, and Los Angeles. We have sufficient knowledge of English and Japanese pop music but are quite lacking in our knowledge of Chinese pop music.

We are in the beginning stages (Hell I haven't even finished the script yet) but we've already secured a Director and are in the midst of raising capital. The film will most likely debut in Japan first; we haven't yet completed the biz plan for the rest of Asia or the U.S. We do anticipate this project taking some time to come to fruition, so please be patient.

Thank you for your time, cooperation and efforts.

Kind Regards,

Azn Man

P.S. - ALL of the characters are Asian.

Have you see the Chinese Movie Waiting Alone ( 獨自等待 ) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waiting_Alone) ?

They had some really great indie bands from China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

Here's info on the soundtrack
http://hi.baidu.com/yixuanju/blog/item/f0fa3e873d0ef32ac65cc30d.html

The best part is that most of the artists aren't that famous just yet (well they're well known, but they aren't like Jay Chou status) so licensing their music might be cheaper.

Here's a song that was featured on the soundtrack for that movie.

Band: 羽泉 & 黃征
Song: 奔跑

And this duo makes some really good music. They had a song on the soundtrack as well but I can't find it right now, but check out some of their other ones.

Band: 龍寬九段
Song: 我聽這種音樂的時候最愛你

Song: 蓮花

*** These are some other musicians/bands that are really good as well ***

Band: Sodagreen / 蘇打綠
Song: 無與倫比的美麗

Band: Mayday / 五月天
Song: 一顆蘋果

Also, just wanted to share one of my favorite artist of all time Chang Yu-sheng ( 張雨生 ) ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chang_Yu-Sheng) .

He tragically died in a car accident when he was only 31. I think he’s one of the most talented singer/songwriters there is.

This is one of my favorite songs of his (a little eerie though because the title means, "Because I Breathe I Feel That I'm Alive")
