Hey All,

Just wanted to throw in one LAST plug for our local Portland, OR events this weekend. We've been working hard to put this event together. We haven't even closed this s#$t yet, and I've ALREADY got stories to tell my grandchildren!

So here's the schedule:

• Friday July 11, 2008, 5:30 p.m. – Thymos will screen the film “What’s Wrong with Frank Chin” at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, located at 3181 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Rd, Portland, OR, in the Vey Conference Room. Filmmaker Curtis Choy will host a discussion immediately after the film.

• Saturday, July 12, 2008, 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Writer and activist Frank Chin will tell stories to children at Beaverton City Library, located at 12375 SW 5th St, Beaverton, OR. Mr. Chin will host a discussion for adults and activists immediately after the children’s presentation.

• Friday, July 18, 2008, 6 pm – Lawson Inada will hold a coffee chat at Red and Black Café, located at 400 SE 12th Ave, Portland, OR. He will share his experiences in activism and literature, and he will lead the audience members in a dialogue.

For more info, check out our totally awesome new website (with a badass picture and quote of Yuri Kochiyama artistically rendered with an equally badass design scheme) at:

Check out our f#%^g awesome sponsors on our website too! They and our volunteers are making this all possible. Our sponsors are keeping it real with their financial support (and they really supported us well--it wasn't cheap to become either a gold sponsor or regular sponsor), and our volunteers are doing the same with their physical and intellectual and social capital. While you're at it, check out the awesome support that we're getting from Portland JACL:

Unity, baby!

If you guys are in the Portland area, you should definitely try to make these events. Jaehwan and his Thymos crew have put a lot of time and effort into advancing asian american issues and awareness -- this is the next step, guys. head out there and show your support!
