I just couldn't help but notice this in the theater trailers.

Now I know "blackface" has a controversial past but in this particular case it appears to be executed so well that people wont mind.

He resembles Don Cheadle without the annoying British dialect.

Looks like RDJ's on a roll ever since Burger King saved him from his substance abuse.

Well done or not. Since the wayans did White Chicks (I noticed how the media conveniently left out the black voice that was really annoyed with that crap) I don't see anything wrong with RDJ. And from the previews he still seems to be making more fun of white peoples perception of blacks then of black people themselves.

I think it looks hilarious too.:D

from watching the trailers, it seems the point is he's making fun of blackface, because he's saying and doing ridiculous things while in blackface.

sort of like how Cobert portrays himself as a conservative in order to make fun of conservatives.

I think blackface can be good and funny in comedy, it's just often...not.

I think there's a difference between an actor being put in blackface to laugh at black stereotypes and black culture, and an actor being in blackface for the sake of the story. When Angelina Jolie did "A Mighty Heart" in which she played a woman of color, she was put in brown-face, which most people didn't have a problem with because-
a). she is an amazing actor and was suited to the role
b). it was a part of the character/RL person she was playing

I trust that this movie will be funny without being offensive, partly because I lurve Robert Downey.
