Stoner movies aren't really my thing--although I saw the first H&K and will see this one too--but I think some of you might find this article interesting.

Mr. Hurwitz and Mr. Schlossberg, who grew up in Randolph, N.J., have known each other since high school, where the idea of Harold and Kumar took root. “We always had a very multicultural group of friends,” Mr. Hurwitz said. “One thing that struck us was that no matter our ethnic background, we were very much alike. But whenever we saw Asian or Indian characters on screen, they were nothing like our friends, so we thought we would write characters like them.” (Mr. Cho’s character is based on an actual Harold Lee. Mr. Hurwitz and Mr. Schlossberg are Jewish, as are Harold and Kumar’s best buddies.)

Got to give two Jewish guys who made the movie some props who see the issue the same way many of us see it.

It's gotten 61% on Rotten Tomatoes. It seems that most of the Conservative/Libertian newspapers are giving it a bad score, that's why it doesn't rate so highly.

That's ridiculous! It's the most compassionate depiction of Bush in any Hollywood movie to date!

Saw this last night. As a work of representation for Asian males, and a lot of progressive politics, it was great. But as a comedy it kinda sucked. I didn't really laugh through much of it. Part 1 was funnier.

What's weird is that I was just talking to my white friend Paul who says I must be on crack for not thinking it was funny. By the way, he saw it drunk. I was sober. He saw it with three other white friends and they all rolled on the floor laughing.

I don't know. Maybe the humor falls differently on Asian audiences than white ones? MAybe I should go see it again, on shrooms or something.

I think it is just you. I laughed my ass off when I saw the movie. I grew up with some guys that act like Kumar and Harold.

I just saw this too. It was pretty funny but I feel like they were trying too hard to be funny in this movie. Some of the stuff was a little obvious, but I think the pace of the comedic scenes (with the over the top stuff) was a little too fast.

This movie was hilarious...a very worthy sequel to the first one.
