It's really amazing how politics seems to be diversifying so quickly. It looks like the future Governor Patterson also has an interesting background. I'm usually not too crazy about dynasties, but hey, it's the first black governor of NY, and he is legally blind yet still manages to do well with his disability. This is exciting stuff.

Yeah, he has a really interesting background. This scandal is insane. The governor who as former attorney general broke up prostitution rings is Client 9??? Man, you can't make shit up that's as good as this.

"Scarlet Letter" in the Big Apple! Seriously, the story of Client #9 would make a great suspense novel for the John Grisham fans.

By the way, they identified "Kristen."

Poor girl.

I don't know, BTB, what are your feelings about the girl? I know several high priced prostitutes like Tracy Quan have made a decent living in the media after their incidents. Part of me feels bad that they are forced to assume the identity of their circumstances, but then again, they make a decent living out of it, and they no longer have to work to do what they did.

You know, even if she'd been raised in the brokenest of homes, she's a big girl capable of understanding the consequences of her actions. I'm sure it'll get her a lot of hits on her mySpace, launch her music career and get her the TV, movie and book deals. The only people I feel bad for are his wife, kids and poor mother.

kids are gonna be traumatized. imagine the whole world knowing about your dad's dirty laundry.

unless they move to some media-dead country in the middle of nowhere, they're gonna get relentlessly teased by the other kids.

I think I'd agree; she's definitely set for life, and she's a big girl who knew the possible repercussions. One thing that amazes me is that she keeps telling the media that she's not a "monster." I don't think anyone thinks she is. Everyone is blaming Spitzer, as they should.

I do feel bad for the wife and girls though. The girls will have a future in politics and the media because of the family's money and name, but it's going to be rough sailing growing up with that stigma. I never understood how family of public figures deal with that sort of thing. It's gotta be rough.

This guy seems like a very amiable person that can befriend anybody. This would do wonders for disabled people if he is able to succeed in his role.

Well, it looks like the publicity is helping her career. She got radio play and 200,000 downloads.

There's an interesting article here about blindness:

Lots of stuff that I never thought about before. 70% of the blind are unemployed. That's a pretty big significant labor force, so I agree with you: Patterson could definitely serve as a role model if he succeeds.

It looks like the new governor is being proactive about his past infidelities. Normally I wouldn't think this a good idea, but given the environment, I think it's a pretty good move:

Larry Wilmore is hilarious. This is from the daily show (http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=164180&title=ny%C3%A2%C2%80%C2%99s-new-governor).
