There's a program by the Japanese gov't called Ship of World Youth tour. Or something like that, just google it up.
It only takes in applicants from ages 18-30, so sorry to any would-be delegates that are over 30. It is free for those who are accepted as "delegates". I have no idea if you have any real responsibilities, I believe the program is set up as some sort of cosmopolitan exchange.
What happens is that successful applicants are sent to Japan and board the Tour's cruise liner. Some time is spent there before the ship tours various other countries's designated locales for that particular year. The tour is covered and I believe the flight to/from Japan is free as well. The only expenses you deal with, is your own spending money for Akihabara goodies or whatever.
So youngsters of this site, here's your opportunity before you get over the hill.
