The only relevant part with Asian America:

“Another clear gender divide, this one less expected, emerged in our findings on racial preferences, reported in a forthcoming article in the Review of Economic Studies. Women of all the races we studied revealed a strong preference for men of their own race: White women were more likely to choose white men; black women preferred black men; East Asian women preferred East Asian men; Hispanic women preferred Hispanic men. But men don’t seem to discriminate based on race when it comes to dating. A woman’s race had no effect on the men’s choices. Two wrinkles on this: We found no evidence of the stereotype of a white male preference for East Asian women. However, we also found that East Asian women did not discriminate against white men (only against black and Hispanic men). As a result, the white man-Asian woman pairing was the most common form of interracial dating—but because of the women’s neutrality, not the men’s pronounced preference. We also found that regional differences mattered. Daters of both sexes from south of the Mason-Dixon Line revealed much stronger same-race preferences than Northern daters.”

I found the thread where this watchreader guy admits he as an asian fetish interesting. It's annoying how this man admits this crap yet he will never admit that it's a problem or it's driven by anything negative.

I found clara's comment interesting:
"As an Asian woman, I just want to state that watchreader is the kind of man who makes me reluctant to date new people. He's the kind of man who makes me consider becoming a lesbian. And he's the kind of man who, if I were accidentally to go on a date with him, leaves me feeling tarnished and icky.

On the other hand, I have no problem with men who find many Asians attractive but are also turned on by other women of other races. That isn't what I'd consider a fetish."

It's hilarious how obvious it is that this lady dated so many asiaphiles. I bet all her bf were asiaphiles, some just better at hiding it.

This comment from the seeker caught my attention.

"Watchreader, at least you're honest about it. As a white female who was in a long-term relationship with a self-declared "Asian fetishist", I'd say it's best to go for what you really want. Y'know, whatever floats your boat. (Within reason, of course.)

It probably wouldn't be fair to any non-Asian girl to date her while you still have this preference. The guy I was with was the "all kinds of women are beautiful, but I REALLY prefer Asian women" type. I was fine with it for a while... but eventually it got under my skin. I wanted to be what he wanted, but obviously that's a futile attempt, since nobody can change their genetics. I felt like an anorexic, except I was never Asian enough, instead of never skinny enough. Every woman wants to feel like her man truly desires her. In going for a woman that you aren't completely attracted to, you're being unfair to her as well as yourself.

I draw the line at anime girls, though. =P"

Obviously this lady has no clue about race relations.

There is so much rationalizing going on here. These people will be happy even on a sinking ship. I would say it's impossible to get these people to see this situation as racist objectification of af. The only people who can be converted are the af like clara. If somebody got her to accept her asian ethnic identity she would stop her rationalizing behavior and see the situation as it is.

I can't believe it takes an economist going to a bar to figure out what most of us already know: For men, the more money you have, the more poontang you will get. And for women, the bigger your cupsize, the more men you will draw.

As for the race divide, I somewhat agree that Asian females (and Asians in general) tend to discriminate the most against the non-whites like blacks and Latinos. I mean, for most Asians, they're dating pool is pretty much limited to either White or Asian. With a small small minority that goes for "other." But more important than that is status in Asian culture... if a black or Latino man has an Ivy League degree and pulls down a six-figure job at Wall Street, he will get Asian girls (and white girls and any other girls).

I'd say, for the most part, not of the same caliber that a White dude with the same qualifications would. It seems that way at least.

That being said, I do know one Black dude that does pretty well, but the way I see it, given all that he has going for him, he should be doing even better.

That's true. Let's say you have a White, Asian, Black, Latino man with the same qualifications and looks-wise are about even. Most likely, Asian females will choose the white man more often than not cause all other things being equal, that "whiteness" factor gives the white man the slight edge. And really, that's all you need.

I swear, someone needs to make a reality TV show about this. Ask average ordinary Asian-American girls on the street and have the 4 contestants line up and see which one she chooses. If someone put a gun to my head and I had to bet my life on the person they will choose most often, I'm almost positive the white man will get the most votes. Cause if I choose anyone else, there's a good chance I'd end up with a bullet in my head.

I've noticed a lot of females writing in the comments about how they believe that asian females are the last stop for the men before they come out of the closet.

I've always found asiaphiles to be annoyingly overly sensitive but never made the connection that most of them might be gay.

I guess it's like finding out the dougie houser is gay. You are surprised but at the same time you knew it all along.

Since so many non-asian men are trying to take over the board I figured I post the comments I wrote about. Funny stuff.

"Sometimes they're gay-ish..."

A Chinese friend's gay colleague told her that Asian chicks are frequently the last stop before a guy gets off at Queer Street. Apparently, Asians are so smokin' that if one of them doesn't turn your crank, you're gay.

BY HEATHERNUMBER1 AT 11/08/07 08:06 PM

Though a few Asian 'fetishists' did turn out to be gay, so maybe it's an androgyny thing.

BY WARTHOG AT 11/09/07 02:22 PM

Thought of another term related to this phenom: "Last Stop." As in, an asian woman is the last stop to gayville for bi-curious guys. It's from that book "Middlesex". Pretty horrid thing to say.
