It seems all guys here ever write about are about IRs and CCBs. Am I the only one who actually watch sports besides Azn man? There are a ton of Asian dudes in the MLB playoffs right now. C'mon guys, there are a lot of good sporting stuff on the tube.
Kaz Matsui almost single handily took Colorado Rockies into the National League Championship series. Kaz drove in 5 runs in GM 2 of the Philly series.
Johnny Damon (he is hapa) and Hideki Matsui combined and drove in some key runs in GM 3 of Yankees/Indians series to extend the series. Johnny got a HR.
Chien-Ming as Yankee's ace starter will probably pitch gm 4. Hopefully, he will come through for the Yanks. I would like to see a BOSOX/Yanks American League championship series. Wouldn't it be something to see Dice-K pitching against Chien-Ming Wang in one of the sports' greatest rivalries?
Yi Jianlian is now a Buck and he is settling in at his new hometown. So far so good.
There are a ton of Asian athletes on TV these days. I always thought sports are the way to dispel stereotypes and these dudes are out there doing it.

Cuz CCBz and IR is very interesting, that's why. But yeah, I watch sports. Not baseball though. I used to play baseball in high school & that was fun, but watching it is quite boring.... for me. But baseball is alright. Nowadays, I watch BMX videos and ride BMX.
Hoang Tran rides for Subrosa. Brian Terada rides for WTP & has his own signature bars. Kazuo Okada rides for Hoffman Bikes with his own pro model frame... "Loyalty". The thing is, the Asian riders don't get as much airtime on the videos as the other riders.
In Japan, its different. Japan is the flatland bmx capital of the world. "flatland" bmx is where they do tricks on flat ground. Its the most difficult of all the types of bmx. They hold flatland contests in malls call "King of Ground" & they got flatland bmx stores that's flatland specific which is unheard of anywhere else.

Of course many here watch sports.
There are a few problems with sports though.
1) Mostly guys watch it. If girls don't watch it, it's not going to much good in dispelling stereotypes in their heads.
2) Lack of dialogue and personality. You don't really hear Asian players talking, and if they do, it's mostly through a translator.
3) No plot. There's no romantic plot or hero plot to help form positive images in people's heads.
But yeah, I do get your point. Yao, Richard Park, Ichiro, are my fav players.

If a heterosexual guy knows a ton about sports and can explain it without being condescending, it's actually great for attracting women. As long as you have a good answer to "What's the point of following this?" A lot of women are curious to learn more, but have been turned off by the sexism they face when they try to enter the sports arena. The funny thing though is that for the extensive time that many guys put into following sports, they really know very little.
So it's fun for people if you can educate them about sports so they can treat random dudes who come at them on the "Oh this chick thinks she can know more than me in sports, huh?" tip.
The problem with translation is that there's just not enough Asian American pro-athletes yet. I'm not sure if that's just racism or what, but hopefully it will change in time. You do have guys like Ichiro who are practically fluent in English, but smart enough to speak through a fluent translator after seeing what the media can do to native English speaking athletes of color.
There are tons of plots in sports. Many of them, but not all, are stupid. But you certainly can get a positive, dramatic storyline out of many sporting events.

man, i hope whoever said talking about CCB's was interesting was being sarcastic. that's a dead and beaten horse.
i love watching sports. i think the thing to remember about sports and women is that it's easiest to pick up women who share your interests.
so, if you like watching sports, then it'd make the most sense to find a woman who also loves watching sports.
i know in columbus ohio, which is where i live, almost everyone in the entire city is a buckeyes fan. columbus ohio IS ohio state. even if you don't like football, it's always nice to know at least who they're playing any given saturday and what time because a lot of time, people will ask "who won the game?" or "what time does the game start tonight?" not to mention, tons and tons and tons of hot chicks at OSU love the games.
i was actually thinking the same thing about sports and this board. a lot of what's talked about has to do with political and social views, but there's not a lot of just regular talk.
