After reading all this talk, I'm ready for some action. Some problems with F44s-organized real-life advocacy are that we don't agree on much, and we're scattered across the world.
So on that note, does anyone know of any Asian-American advocacy groups around Boston? (I've looked a few up online, but they seem to be very specific-country focused, which is great, but I'd like to help promote unity among different Asian ethnicities.) Has anyone been involved in one that was particularly good? What is a good way for a n00b like me to get started?

I'm surprised there aren't more Asian advocacy groups out there in Boston, especially since the "dream schools" like Harvard and MIT are located there (which every overachieving Asian and their parents try to get them into). So I'd imagine the Boston area would just be teaming with young, bright, super-ambitious Asian students... maybe a little arrogant & too-sure of themselves, but there's got to be some advocacy-minded ones in the bunch. Especially since I heard Boston ain't exactly the most open-minded town around, despite its central location in Democratic stronghold Massachussetts.
I know someone that's going to Boston U Medical School, and from what I heard, there's a big Asian population in that area with a lot of get-togethers and parties and whatnot where students from Boston U\Boston C\Tufts\Harvard\etc. gather and mingle on the weekends (apparently the nerds at MIT like to stick together). And since he told me Boston U is your typical WASP-ish frat school (with its neighbor Boston College being a White Catholic frat school), that type of environment is not exactly conducive for disgruntled Asians. So there's got to be some unhappy Asians that want change.

Large Asian population? I have been in Boston for almost two years and I can tell you this is the whitest city I have ever been in. Unless I guess you count the people who go to school. I work here so maybe my experiences are different from school going people

Well that's another thing. Many Asian students go there for university but after graduation many get the hell out and go to larger places like NYC/California/Seattle. Thus perhaps Boston serves as a transient city for those Asians that just want to get their brand-name degrees before heading for greener pastures elsewhere...

And I am stuck in this transient city until I find a better job.

Depends where you go. If you're talking about the Fenway area, Back Bay, South End (the area closest to Back Bay), Brighton, Brookline, then yeah. Once you get into Dorchester, Roxbury, the other side of the South End, Roslindale, Jamaica Plain, Hyde Park, etc, then it's definitely not so white.

I'm not sure about those, but UMass Boston has a lot of diversity.
