Hello to all the veterans posters out there. I'm a n00b on here and thought I'd join in on the fun. Just to satisfy my curiosity, is there anyone here that identifies with the subcultures of straight edge, veganism, hardcore punk (either in the United States or elsewhere). I'd like to chat it up with.

Uh, hm. I'm a vegan but I never thought of it as a subculture or anything.

I used to be a vegan. I still listen to Minor Threat. I have never been true to the x though.

If you live in the Bay Area and are a vegan and straigh tedge, then you probably know George Chen. Or Yvonne Chen. Haha.

Vegans make music?

I thought they'd have something against instruments strung with the guts and/or hides of animals.

I was never really into the hardcore scene, was aware of it but didn't really grab onto it. I liked the post punk stuff a lot better: bands like X, The Replacements, etc...

I do remember seeing Agent Orange, Black Market Baby, and the Circle Jerks a long time ago. That genre had its moments but quite honestly, I still needed to hear structure, a melody, something I could sing or hum to. The hc scene was good for just pure energy, blowing off steam, but really---I had to hear something with a decent tune.
