let's think of positive shit about asians for once, hm? yes, i realize this is all anecdotal, generalizing, it's just my own experiences, etc. blah blah blah, but you must be some kind of insecure hater if you shit on this thread with those reasons.
what do i love about...
hong kong men: my parents don't understand why a good hokkien girl like me has such a weakness for hk men, but i gotta say, hk men have the sexiest, deep voices. i like the way hk men have this way of walking, the way they dip, i guess, even though most of them have horrific postures. i love their outspokenness, their confidence, their ability to appreciate all sorts of food...i love how a guy wearing dior homme and marc jacobs will sit down to eat at a dirty, roach-infested outdoor street restaurant and enjoy himself. i love the special hong kong police task force that deals with hysterical chicks because they're inevitably tall, brown, good-looking and soothing.
singaporean men: i love their craziness, how they're willing to try all sorts of things. i love their sense of humour and singlish and how down to earth they are. i love how they're protective and aren't scared of tough chicks (probably because of their moms). i love that they're undercover affectionate.
korean men: i love the way they just order for you at restaurants. i love the expression on their face when they eat something that surprises them. i love how they can be so rough but not scary. i love how they're not afraid of confrontation. i love how so many of them have really amazing bodies.
filipino men: i love their sense of humour, that they've always got a witty retort. i love how they aren't afraid to cry. i love their dramatic outbursts and how affectionate they are. i love how they're usually well-read and know all kinds of random trivia. i love how they stay nice-smelling and clean in humid, disgusting weather.
japanese men: i love their confidence, the way they aren't afraid to express themselves with their appearance and their lifestyle choices. i love how they appreciate art. i love how they dedicate themselves to something (or someone). i love how they don't question that it's a man's responsibility to take care of chicks.
taiwanese men: i love how they're so pretty. i love how they know so much about chinese history and literature. i love that they're so genuine. but i really love the working class taiwanese men and how they don't put up with bullshit and they're not afraid to call you on it.
malaysian men: i love how malaysian men are such nice boys and yet dirty at the same time. i love how they're some of the most culturally well-rounded people i've ever met. i love how they've got that southeast asian temper.
thai men: i love the way they look at you if they're in love with you. i love that they're usually very gentle, but they'll fight to the death if someone they care for is in danger. i love that they're patient and really considerate. i love that they're not afraid to talk to strangers and get to know you.
alright, that's it for now...what do you love about (x) people?
sadly, i suspect that this thread will die off, but i hope that people prove me wrong.

I love asian old people. Granted, I mostly have experience with Korean, Chinese and Filipino old people but they are awesome nonetheless.
Most of them really seem to like younger people. And they love to talk to us and tell us fun stories.
I love that they always smile back when you smile at them on the street.
They don't ask for much but are always super grateful when they receive.
They're also pretty damn independent. Whenever I go to the Korean supermarket and I try to offer old ladies my help they never say yes (not that I love that or anything). I remember having to literally wrestle out bags of groceries from my grandma's hands when we used to go to the farmer's market together.

The situation with old people in Asia is so different from the situation here in the US.
Old people here are either completely depressed with themselves or still think they are 20 years younger then they actually are. I have this old guy living above me who tells me he still lifts weights... and he is in his 70s. Its the whole youth culture I think.
I don't know about old people elsewhere in Asia but in China old people are the happiest people I know. They go hang out in parks, play chess, take long walks and do Taichi. I LOVE how they just do not give a crap about what anyone else thinks anymore and is just out there to enjoy themselves. They are just full of energy like us young people, except without the bitching, moaning and the infantile rage.

I totally agree. I have more experience with Hokkien Chinese and Malays over here, but they're just like what Ellencho described. When I was still working at a bank, my favourite customers were the older ones, because they'd sit and chat with me while I did whatever they needed to be done. They loved telling me about their kids/grandkids and what they were studying or working as, probably because I seemed pretty young to them and always called them "Auntie" or "Uncle".
I also like how active they are. My parents and their friends are in their late fifties and older, but they still have the energy to go to dancing and karaoke parties every week. Their social lives are way better than mine, heh.

This is going to sound weird, but I love Asian high school kids who have jobs in grocery stores. They're fast, competent and professional, even in the suburban hell supermarkets. They even have common sense, like not putting tomatoes and tortilla chips with cans in the same bag.

things generally run more smoothly when i have Asian coworkers/employees. its just hard to get them to stick around for very long because they are always moving somewhere else.
i love renting my place from this old lady from the Philippines. by far the best landlord ive had and she gives me a discount cuz she says i remind her of her son.

i love those old-timers in HK that gamble on their 象棋 games in parks, and their incessant angry cursing. they don't give a shit and they don't take shit from anybody.

Yes! The teenage Asian kids who work in grocery stores are so sweet and freaking efficient.
One of my favourite New York moments involved two thirteen-year-old Chinese American kids.
The girl was selling tofu dessert from a grocery cart out on Grand Street. It was twilight. This boy, who had a very obvious crush on her, was standing next to the cart banging his skateboard on the curb.
The girl looked like wanted to kill him, but continued to dish out the tofu really quickly.
Boy: (bangs skateboard) How much pounds are you?
Girl: What?
Boy: (bangs skateboard) How much pounds are you?
Girl: (has a look of disbelief on her face...shouts a number so quickly that I couldn't catch it)
Boy: Oh. (continues to bang skateboard on the curb)
I was so in love with the two of them. I just wanted to hug them both and tell them that the future was going to turn out just fine.

The waiter/waitress (didn't catch who) in the Chinese restaurant that we ate at yesterday got a chair for my grandfather while we were waiting for a table. My white/Latino friend commented on how nice of a gesture that was, and I admitted that I didn't think much of it because it always happens.
I guess I love when people show respect for old people.

Okay, let me remark on something that I've seen in lots of Asian women.
I do the Asian advocacy thing in my spare time, and one thing that I love about the Asian women I work with is the endless optimism that so many of them have. You could have the bleakest situation, and so many of the Asian women in our advocacy group just can't be taken down. The optimism drives us, and we've done very well because of this optimism. It's awesome.

I love and appreciate the reality that a lot of older Asians sacrificed so much in their lives (And some of them their lives literally) that made the world a better place for me to live in.

i love how the hot 16 year old delivery boy pauses in front of starbucks to take off his shirt so that we can all ogle his chiseled body glistening with sweat under the summer sun.
i love the girls from st. rose of lima secondary school. those chicks give the best directions and one of them ran two blocks to find me after i accidentally dropped my debit card at quiksilver and she wouldn't even let me buy her a drink.

i love the HKer/southern chinese family who runs the eatery across the street from work. They give me discounts all the time and let me read their chinese language mags even though they know i cant read chinese.
The mum embarrasses me all the time by referring to me as 'leng jai' :o

I love how little Asian kids here can talk to almost anyone and not care what other people think.
One of my colleagues just brought her adorable two-year-old son into the office, and he's all over the place babbling in Malay/English. Too cute.

I love how Shar Pei dogs are extremely protective of the home, keeping a close eye on (and sometimes harassing) any and all visitors. I don't like it when my dog loves everyone who comes through the door. Your own family is what's most important, and that's the attitude that Shar Pei naturally have.

Hm. Maybe I should trade my border collie for a Shar Pei. I'm sick of her liking visitors more than she likes my family.

I love that male Asian popstars are so secure in their sexuality and hotness that they will rock any look.
Also, mmm, clean and well-groomed boys. I've never seen an Asian popstar who looks like he might smell bad in real life.

I love some of those lower class Chinese street vendors who will throw it down with white trash tourists over 2 dollars.
Asian Americans on the other hand get raped in the ass and try not to whimper too loudly.

I love how overseas Chinese communities not only survive but prosper despite the best efforts of our host countries to get rid of us.

I know I'm opening up a can of worms here, but I really do love the Asian Americans who aren't wannabe whites - they put a smile on my face.
The ones who speak their ancestral language. The ones who tell you to take your shoes off when you enter their homes because "this is an Asian house, motherfucker". The ones who stutter through "What ethnicity are you?" because they've had the question phrased to them in offensive ways. The ones who will speak Chinglish to me because we both understand that better anyway. The ones who play video games, are engineering majors, and still have a social life. The ones who get along with their families and aren't ashamed of their parents. The ones who aren't okay with whitey's racist comments against blacks or Latinos. The ones who will hit on fat girls... Haha, maybe that's just me. =)
This is also true of the hapas I know who have Asian fathers... Draw your own conclusions.

I love the fact that more and more Asians are mingling with each other as well as loving each other.
In my own family, one cousin married a Korean guy and two others married Korean women. What makes me more proud is that they want their children to speak English, Korean, and Chinese.
It's like they want to create a new group of super Asian Americans.

i love watching asian movies and hearing/understanding taiwanese (my parents are both hardcore taiwanese and always spoke to us in taiwanese, so my mandarin is horrible)
the language feels so personal to me, and i think its also a cultural thing, because from my understanding its mostly spoken within the family, and especially for the older generation that lived through the japanese occupation, since speaking anything but japanese was against the rules.
on a tangent anyone ever see the hokkien star wars? i love this too - peep the vid here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEHXFYIZcLc)

Hey, another Hokkien speaker! Well, I speak the South-east Asian version that's mixed with the Malay dialect, anyway, as my grandparents ran away from their hometown sometime during the Japanese Occupation and settled here.

damn yo i can never figure out what written hokkien is supposed to sound like... maybe its cause there are a ton of different accents, or maybe my taiwanese is just sucks too.
so JadeDragon you're currently living in Malaysia, but ethnically taiwanese? so where did you grow up?
another thing i love - the freaking awesome selection of frozen treats in asia. i remember i would get this delightful inverted strawberry creamsicle type popsicle with chunks of fruit in it at 7-11 in taiwan all the time when i was there... its like got everything you could possibly want on a stick
oh yeah i also love being hairless, naturally tan, with a crazy high metabolism. one of my best friends from high school was white and his two best friends were asian, and i think we gave him a complex or something cause he was always super self conscious about his chest hair. he tried shaving and waxing, but eventually ended up getting it lasered i think... hahahah
