A very insightful essay (http://www.xanga.com/wangkon936/598620319/the-mismanagement-and-depreciation-of-michelle-wie.html) about Michelle Wie's recent downward trajectory in her golf career, some ranting about her overbearing father BJ, what it reflects about Korean and Korean-American attitudes toward success and being in the limelight.

Here is the classic problem with many Koreans when they have a world class asset. They see the potential, get excited about it and they want all the benefits of that asset without thinking about all the work that goes into developing it.

That's actually not a problem exclusive to Koreans. For every Michelle Wie there are tons of McCauley Culkins, Jessica Simpsons, Michael Jacksons, etc. I don't see how the writer was able to make that conclusion. The essay itself looks really half assed with three paragraphs in the beginning saying the exact same thing.

And what about all the other Koreans and Korean-Americans dominating the LPGA? Why is it when dealing with minorities in the spotlight, that one person always has to become the archetypal case study for an entire race?
