Here's a short film on an interracial romance called "Dare Yellow."

Amen, brotha! When the girl's white, you know it's right!
Seriously, that is the way I see for the dissolution of racism. Integration, and the way he answered her ignorance with compassion while trying to make her more aware. That was a nice independent film, and thanks for the link.

I tried to watch this 3 or 4 times in the last hour and I just can't go past the 5 minute mark. There wasn't a whole lot there to grab my attention and make me want to see more. It's similar to a lot of AM/WF features in the sense that it was very patronising. The script writer made white girls look stupid which drags the whole movie down because aside from oversimplifying the interaction between these two people it also makes it seem impossible for them to operate on the same wavelength.
In general, I think Asian American guys should put a hold on making these kinds of movies. AM/WF is sort of like step 4 in a four step program, but we're not yet past steps 2 and 3 yet so it's highly unbelievable at the moment.
Hope that makese sense.

I don't know. The film explore some issues so in that sense I applaud it but at the same time I think it lacked something.
In this rare occasion I do have to agree with theme. I'm not exactly sure what are all the steps are before we get to step four to make films regarding Asian men /white female.
My guess is that step one involves Asian men recognizing the bias agianst them. Step two would be to depict the Asian women bias agaisnt ASian men.
I guess step three would be Asian men disproving the stereotypes .
I prefer to see a film of an average Asian guy dealing with the racism in dating game. I mean in this film it had a happy ending where the Asian guy got the white girl(as if this suppose to mean something) but in reality it's not always like that.
Another more daring film would be about an Asian women bias against Asian men . I really think a film like that would be more dynamic and needed in the community.
In any case I salute the actor and direactor for tackling this issue. I wouldn't be surprise if they make more films about how Asian men are the underdog in the romance department but some how lands the girl.
I really think if films like these are made it may slowly change some of the stereotypes against Asian men.

Step 1.5, acknowledging that AF face racial and additional sexist discrimination beyond and outside the comprehension of AM.
Theme, why not jump to step four? It could bring the whole stereotypical structure crashing down. What comes from it would be a mystery, it'd sure as hell work as a forceful gambit.

step 2: learn to complain about the right things.

A 'theme' is an undefined message with a hidden meaning, you must like that concept.
Why did you change your previous response? It was far more thought out.

While I agree that Asian women face their own problems, I fail to see why Asian American male issues always eventually get swamped with comments on how Asian women have it harder.
I mean, there is a real legit point that Kwak brings up that Asian Americans, especially women, have to realize that there is a real sizable population of Asian women that diss their own men.

True, though aside from the Hmong, I see most other AM put-down their own heritage and culture in fear they might be seen as out of 'the group.' It doesn't seem to be much of an issue here.
If an Asian girl is insulting you because you're an Asian male, then look for another girl Asian or otherwise. If you think you can't, you won't. If you hold that outlook, then regardless of emasculating stereotypes you're going to find some one good.

here's a radical idea: an American film which features AM with AF.
OMG!!!! NO WAY!!!! CANT HAPPEN!!!!!!
marriage between different races will combat racism about as effectively as marriage between the sexes will combat sexism.

DONKEY, what did I say in my last message? Did I say look for a non-Asian? No, I said look for any girl you can appreciate and feel appreciated for no other reason than your own personalities.
If an AF scoffs at you for being an AM while degrading her own integrity, are you going to dog her around until she repents and proclaims she was wrong? If you would, good luck with that, though if your sane then just look for any girl that interests you. If she just has to be Asian, then you're going to have a harder time.

I'm sorry, but this film was just really awkward to watch, especially in terms of dialogue and pacing. On the plus side, I thought the guy who played the Asian male lead was aight, but as my wife pointed out... he's just basically playing himself (a normal Asian guy).
Lowfan girl was just unbearable to watch in terms of her acting, as per a previous comment, was waaaaaay too old for the part.
The only entertaining parts of the video were these short snippets:
...
Bum: Who was that? Yer girlfriend?
Asian guy: No, just some girl I met in the bar.
Bum: That's no place to meet a nice lady! Try the grocery store or a book store.
...
White girl: Hey... I can introduce you to the Asian girl.... no, wait... she doesn't date Asian guys! (laughter)
Asian guy: (crosses arms and sighs) ...I'm not surprised...

^hahah for real? Those are some hilarious and painful bits.
Man, I'm glad I didn't bother to watch it. I mean I understand the issues it's trying to get across and such but it's tough when the whole thing is just painful to watch.

why are you giving me dating advice? im in my 20s, done my share of dating, and no longer interested. im looking more seriously now and i know what kind of person i want and dont want thanks to many awful and crazy experiences. i dont need this kind of shit from a 17 year old who found this forum and the key to his dad's liquor cabinet on the same night.
seems like youre assuming too much about the people here.
Do you truly believe that?
yes and my conviction was formed over many years of first-hand experiences but thats a long and boring novel that everybody here has read before.

The mentality of the Asian girl that doesn't date Asian men needs to be brought up front and center. It's a problem that needs to be addressed before discussion of Asian men with white women.

There is much classier way of doing it. It would be much better to explore it from the girl's perspective on the various life experiences (such as being tease at school, media exposure, only stereotypical contact) on why she came to that situation and send the message that it is not healthy.
Not on some movie that basically says: screw you, I'm an Asian stud and can score with the much hotter blonde.

Hmm..I wonder if there would be an Asian version of the film "Jungle Fever" but have the Asian woman playing the role of Snipes and going for white man only.
