Yet another article lambasting Wie for her questionable play/behavior.
Im all for seeing more color on the tour, and I think Michelle had a shot at becoming great. These days I doubt it will happen. The press grinds her at one end and (her Dad/manager?) likely pushes her from the other. At some point somethings gotta give.
In the interim shes making it harder for the next youth-of-color to come up behind her. People will be more skeptical. Tighter with their purse strings. Still, I think if she took the time off to get herself together, a lot of currently open doors will close to her as well.
I think its a bad situation and I cant see it ending well.
I dont think there are any other golfers on the board, but I think people have heard of Michelle Wie... what do you guys think?

Another Capriati in the making, oops, I forgot, Capriati actually had a career before she broke down.

I was hoping this would be a thread about people getting tired of people obsessing after a 17 year old corean girl.
At first I thought the attention she was getting was cool. But now I think it's just plain disturbing.

I don't really see this as a race thing unless Koreans are prone to disqualifications and pulling out of tournaments early.
I think yeah, people are going to be skeptical at the next 'phenom'like player but I don't think race is attributable to that at all. What we got is a 17 year old who is obviously making some very bad decisions and that is all that people are going to see.

I know a guy from Hawaii who grew up in the same area (although he's older) and said that Michelle Wie had a reputation as being your typical "Asian-American Princess" with the snobby attitude and all. I guess for young sport prodigies it ain't easy when you're handed everything on a silver plate all your life. I think Tiger Woods handled the pressure much better.

Tiger Woods is the Fkn man. It's a shame he didn't look more Asian though. Coulda been good havin' him on our team.

Theme... You saying because Tiger doesnt look more Asian that hes NOT on the team? This right after saying that Michelle Wies race wont be a factor in her game other than that "Koreans are prone to DQs and pulling out early"...?
You got any stats to back that up with? Or are you just gonna throw that out there and hope no one calls you on it?

Kimtae...
You sure about that one Kid? That sounds like buying Manhattan with beads *again*.
I dont mean to make light of the Wu, but when they create a paradigm shift in rap as Tiger did with golf, then you might get some value... Until that day, Its just mo Brothas studyin kung fu. Including myself that brings the total number to... 8?

I was joking about the Chapelle show skit. Click the link.

What I said was:
I don't really see this as a race thing unless Koreans are prone to disqualifications and pulling out of tournaments early.
meaning:
Unless there has been many Koreans who are known to being DQed or pulling out of tournaments in the past, then I don't see why it will be about race.
And Tiger is awesome, I love the guy even though I don't watch golf. I like the way he carries himself and the fact that he parlayed all that talent into a great career.
But...
I stand by my original statement.

maybe she should just take some time off from Golf, go to college (accepted at Stanford, right?), get a boyfriend, learn about the World and stop being everyone's money-making machine.

Hmm, I can't say I know much about Wie's situation but the girl is clearly running on empty. She had a broken wrist and yeah while she's young - I don't think she can heal so fast that she's at 100% and then there's overcoming rust.
If this keeps up, she'll go the way of Kournikova but with less Maxim magazine coverage. Right now it's the promise of talent and her looks that are keeping Wie marketable. When the bloom is off, the sponsors aren't going to come knocking anymore.
I think she needs to get some more stability in her pro-life, does she even have a dedicated instructor?
