My parents took me to Disney World last week. I'm not going to discuss the complications or implications of taking your 20-year-old daughter to Disney World - I'm just going to make some observations on Disney World in general.

1. In Animal Kingdom, they had named regions: Dinoland, Discovery Island, Africa, Asia. Asia was right next to Dinoland. It had the Mt. Everest ride, which had a Disney-fied Tibetan entrance with statues and ancestor-worship items. People threw coins in that area, as if it was a wishing well. Africa had people dressed up in leopard print dancing around and banging on drums.

2. There were many, many WM/AF couples, some with children. The WM was usually older/balding/nerdy and the AF was usually fat and spoke Asian-accented English. I was stuck in line behind one younger, childless couple, and they were all over each other... Yuck! They almost made me lose my lunch before I'd even bought it.

3. We went on an Aladdin-themed virtual carpet ride, and there was a TV with instructions on how to get the headset on and how to steer the carpet. The narrator's voice was the most horrible fake Indo-Chinese whatever Asian accent imagineable.

4. There were lots of black families. I was surprised.

5. Lots of BM/WF couples. In that vein, I saw no BF/WM couples and one AM/WF couple. No black/Asian couples.

6. People are terrible at keeping track of their children. I wanted to hand out kiddie leashes.

7. There was a guy with a World of Warcraft quest giver '!' hat. (see http://worldofwarcraft.com/screenshots/images/basics/quests/ss0006.jpg for reference) I refrained from talking to him about WoW because I didn't want his wife to murder me (or him).

8. About half the time, my family would get asked where we were from, and about half the time they stopped after we said "Texas". Strangely, we got asked if we were from California a few times. Now why would a Californian go to Disney World in Florida? They've got one in their own state.

9. We went to a dinner show called "Arabian Nights". It was a horse/stunt show. I don't think any of the actors in the show were of Middle Eastern descent, though there was one black guy.

10. I skipped Epcot because they had a section called "Reflections of China" which had something like "discover the mysterious East" in its description.

That's all I can remember for now. I'll post more if they come up.

Since you play World of Warcraft, Ike, I used to play a long time ago and this made me laugh my ass off.
