Why don't we have it more? Since American media gone out of its way to portray Asians negatively, I think sites like these need to go out of its way to do some deprogramming and show some positive images of Asian men and women. Why did he delete it? I think it is more productive to be positive than being negative and bitching all the time.

First of all, Lucy Liu is not cute. 2nd of all, when Lucy actually does something in Hollywood that is supportive of Asian men, I think more Asians might embrace her. In the meantime, she is just another banana who happen to be in Hollywood.

The thing with Lucy Liu is that she just wants to act, she doesn't want to get involved in any of the hot issues. She focuses on improving her performance and becoming a recognized actress who is Asian American, not an Asian American actress. Hell, she just wants to act.

Nekohead, the issues with 'black' men is Hollywood is that we are only recognized for violent roles. We can't seem to break out anywhere else. By the way, I usually prefer to see interracial couples. Though, I dislike the disparity of the genders.

Lucy Liu isn't that attractive IMO. I think she's a token Asian girl and the reason why she gets work in Hollywood is because she is very 'well behaved'. If she never 'gives back' to her community then that's something that we're already accustomed to. The stereotype of Asian women who 'make it' but never give back is starting to become really noticable, especially when you put them up against other minorities.

Well said Makulita. I think people like Lucy Liu are like OJ Simpson (without the murder stuff) that once they made it in this society, they pretty much turn their back on where they came from. In OJ's case, it was pretty much the black community that saved his sorry ass when he is probably guilty.

Being a minority actress, you are out there representing your minority group whether you like it or not. Just like many of us who grew up in all white communities where are supposedly the "Asian" expert when many of us are pretty much Americans. Lucy Liu is out there speaking for Asians and Asian Americans whether she likes it or not. That's a good question. Are Middle Easterns, South Asians, or Central Asians considered "Asian?" Of course. However, at least when the word "Asian" is brought up in North America it usually refers to East Asians. Although in other countries like the United Kingdom, the South Asians get the term "Asian" all to themselves.

And ironically enough, Middle Easterns and to some extent Central Asians are actually classified as "Caucasian" under the US census.
