I was talking to a white Canadian friend and a white American friend the other day - the Canadian is an amateur magician and he told me he'd discovered an English magician and had learnt a lot of new tricks from the English man's work. Joking, I said "at last you appreciate the superiority of the English race" - I got such a strong reaction! The American guy said "what are you talking about?! English isn't a race!" and the Canadian guy said "Yes, all three of us are white!" to which I replied "I'm not" (I'm mixed but look white). The American guy said he supposed (?) Indian counted as non-white....... anyway, it was interesting how touchy both of them were about the subject. Do I need to add that both of them have Asian girlfriends....?
