Phong Le-Lay Tien Cho Gai(Loosely translated to makin' money for the bitches)
Vietnamese aren't generally known for their creativity, especially in pop music, but this video had me crackin' up cause it's different from what's out there. It's a parody rap video and the quality is still bad but it's good for a Vietnamese MV. Plus it's so damn catchy.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=GoL6jr2zHV8
Trish Thuy Trang-Joe Le Taxi
She's the Vietnamese Jessica Simpson(good looking but not that talented). This is that sort of stuff that Vietnamese people are use to.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=WS1FrpJK0Is
And just to show that we're not all untalented. Here's one of my favorite female singers singing one of my favorite songs. It's a great blend of contemporary music with old age instruments. Can't remember what that instrument that guy is playing midway through the video but it's authentic Vietnamese.

there are really a whole lot of WKW video clips and tribute vids on youtube.
i have to say, maybe i'm biased because i'm a fan, but WKW really knows how to use the film medium more than a lot of famous directors out there.

not just that, but i think he treats female characters with a lot of love and sympathy. they always look so beautiful and he has this talent for bringing out their hidden vulnerability.
to this day, it brings tears to my eyes whenever i watch "chungking" and that scene where wong faye looks at tony leung with her wide eyes and the look on her face...she looks so scared, hopeful, suspicious and vulnerable at the same time. every time i think of her, i fall in love.

he has a talent in bringing out expressions in his characters that are very subtle and sustained, period. i fell in love with his films when i was young and was going through these periods of deep funk. i really liked how he portrayed a character's loneliness, inability to connect with others, and at the same time with a yearning to do so.

ChungKing Mansions is nice and who does not love Faye after watching that movie? but my favourite by far is Fallen Angels, for basically what i wrote above, and a close second being In the Mood For Love - that movie is a masterpiece in leading the mood of the audience.
