View Full Version : Heliocentrism is an Atheist Doctrine, says Brownback Supporter

I had to share this. It's the most unintentionally hilarious piece of writing I've seen since last year's shocked reaction of the pro-lifer who thought The Onion article "I'm Totally Psyched About this Abortion (http://www.theonion.com/content/node/33680")" was a non-fiction memoir.

From Blogs 4 Brownback, Heliocentrism is an Atheist Doctrine (http://blogs4brownback.wordpress.com/2007/05/18/heliocentrism-is-an-atheist-doctrine/). The comment count is 238 and growing.

I can’t wait to hear from the moonbats and the Darwinists and the other rubes on this one, though. Go on, witch doctors. Preach to me how the planet hurtles through the ether, Scriptural and physical evidence to the contrary! Your false doctrines will be cast down on the day when America rediscovers its Christian roots. That is a promise.

the non-debate over an issue that rational Americans have foolishly conceded to the secular among us

That gave it away as satire, no?

If it's a parody it's under really deep cover. The author is defending himself tooth and nail in the comments.

270. (http://blogs4brownback.wordpress.com/2007/05/18/heliocentrism-is-an-atheist-doctrine/#comment-2070)Wow. Too many comments to reply to individually. Evidently, the secular-humanist atheist community feels threatened whenever someone calls their ideas into question. In your hearts, you know I speak the Truth; so you swarm together like smoke-blinded hornets to defend Godless notions that defy reason, common sense, empiricism, Scripture, and the historically accurate fact that removing prayer from public schools and teaching our children nonsense like Heliocentrism is what started all the problems in America.

If those astronauts had simply realized that their ship was moving relative to the Earth, instead of the other way around, we could finally put this silly Heliocentrism nonsense behind us.

Yeah, yet you’re in company with people who claim the Earth gets fat around the middle from racing around the Sun so many times. And that makes perfect sense to you!

As for those offering evidence the Earth is flat, I have to say that you may be on to something. Not having been in space myself before, I cannot state conclusively either way; it’s hard for me to believe that NASA is people by liars and charlatans, but after the deluge of lies I’ve been exposed to on this thread, it’s become somewhat easier for me to accept that.

There's no way this guy is for real.

He's still plugging away! I think he's real. If he was a parody writer he would be more entertaining in his rantings. They're completely insane but also kind of dull and repetitive.

The scientists can’t prove their ideology is correct, so they’re trying to silence me just as the Church was forced to take action to silence Galileo. The difference is that Galileo was a homosexual fraud who was trying to destroy Christianity in Europe with his outrageous blasphemies, while I speak the Truth for neither financial renumeration nor ulterior motive. I wish only to expose the malice, corruption, and deceit that underlies modern pseudoscience. For that, I am persecuted.

I still say he's fake. I don't think he's a parody writer per say, but rather someone who is having fun and/or trying to make Christian fundamentalists look bad. If I were him, I'd be laughing my ass off at all the idiots trying to argue with me.

An early comment pointed out the theme of futility - the name Sisyphus, supporting Brownback, arguing against "Heliocentrism," all the people arguing with an apparent fundie - and I think he may be right. It's just too far out there. This is light years beyond intelligent design and the such.

I think it's a fake. These folks are supposed to be proud conservatives and using real names would show conviction. The entertainment value is low because it's not satire but deliberate misinformation. They are trying their damndest to keep Brownback out of the running by association with this blog. They could even have a whole group of people supplying supporting comments as part of their smear campaign. Well, that's my theory.

OK, I'm finally beginning to come around to the parody side.

I noticed the blogroll has links to J. Grant Swank (http://www.sadlyno.com/archives/3315.html) and Marie Jon' (http://www.sadlyno.com/archives/5491.html) right next to each other. These are two bona fide loonies that the writers at sadlyno.com are always quoting, and they both use real names and have the most godawful grammar.
