I'm on this nostalgic kick right now and i'm trying to compile a playlist of all the best club-friendly hipHop and RNB tracks from the 90s -- stuff like Jade "Don't Walk Away" to stuff like "O.P.P." is what i'm looking for. I'm trying to stay away from the old-school techno stuff (i.e. 2unlimited, FunFactory, Real McCoy, etc.).

Anyone have any suggestions as to what I should be looking for? Anyone have that special playlist already compiled?

How early '90s you wanna go?

random tracks:

Mary J. Blige - Real Love
Souls of Mischief - '93 Til Infinity
A Tribe Called Quest - Award Tour
(or pretty much any ATCQ album, especially Low End Theory)
Pharcyde - She Keeps On Passing Me By
Pharcyde - Runnin'
Digable Planets - Rebirth of Slick
Arrested Development - Everyday People

If you want, I can go dig up an MP3 collection of the supposed "Top 100 Songs of Hip Hop & Rap", which seems to be mostly dominated by stuff from the late eighties and early nineties.

great start.

I would like to add:
black sheep- the choice is yours
black sheep- strobe like honey
cypress hill- anything from their first album
jeru the damaja- coming clean (not club like but kickass nonetheless)
gangstar- (I forgot the track)
a tribe called quest- mr. bobalina mr. bobdabalina (forgot the name)
del 5 and the funky homosapians

cheesy stuff:
montell jordan- this is how we do it
onyx
arrested development

Lopan, you might try registering with www.Betalounge.com (free) and go to their past show. While they are mostly house/electronic based, there is this one show where they had all the DMC US finalist come in and spin some tracks. Most of them are from that era. Just enter "DMC" in their past shows search engine.

I remember how those Puff Daddy singles dominated the late 90s, but they're all so amazingly forgettable.

Great song... brings back so many memories of the dai-goh OG types that I would wanna hang around back in the day as they pumped this song out their car.

Haha, the radio station here used to play really funky stuff when I was a wee lass in the 90s. Imagine a kid singing "Do me, baby" around the house... Hilarity ensued.

Ah man, that's just some of the crap I have. I lost a lot of good RB/HH mp3's when my HD crashed. I can't remember the artists' name or the song title, so I'm screwed.
