WASHINGTON -- The annual mail carrier food drive will be held Saturday.
Letter carriers across the country will collect nonperishable food items such as canned goods left by customers along their routes. The food is donated to local charities.
Since its beginning in 1993 the drive has collected nearly three-quarters of a billion pounds of food.
The drive is sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers, U.S. Postal Service, Campbell's, America's Second Harvest, Cox Target Media, local United Ways and the AFL-CIO Community Services Network.
