Agent says militia targeted Hispanics

The heavily armed Alabama Free Militia planned to attack a group of Hispanics in Blount County and had orders to open fire immediately if they saw the feds coming, an ATF agent said Tuesday.

Adam Nesmith of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives testified during a federal court hearing that the men had a plan to attack a group of Mexicans in the Remlap area with machine guns.

Nesmith said two of the men and a confidential informant went on a reconnaissance mission to Remlap on April 20, six days before federal, state and local law enforcement officers carried out last Thursday's raids in four Alabama counties, confiscating truckloads of explosives, 130 grenades and 2,500 rounds of ammunition.

It still amuses me that the 2,500 rounds of ammunition factor is still being used as a shock factor in these articles. Any competitive shooter, hunter, or collector has that much or more >easily

Our Country needs help with the immigration problem.
But I'm sure this is not the way to go.
2,500 rounds of ammunition is not so much, My husband and I have
ammunition for our several hunting and personal guns which will
most likely be too much!

It is funny they did not blast the men's race all over the newspaper. During the Virginia Tech shooting, Seung Cho's race and ethnicity were blasted all over the news. I find it funny they don't use headings like "white German male ..." or something like that.

Joking aside, I have to congratulate law enforcement on this one :) . In a way we're very lucky... the fact that law enforcement is dominated by white males means that there is a large pool of undercover agents to infiltrate these kinds of organizations. Militias and white supremacists groups find it very hard to blow up stuff and massacre people because they're always getting arrested for trying to buy weapons from an undercover agent. There are many of these types of plots foiled every year.
