I don't know if this should go in Music or Films, but whatever. This is a shameless plug-in for my blog as well as a call for suggestions and dialogue on my idea. I've been wanting to get a project like this off the ground for a few years now and it might be happening soon as I recently met the manager of Far East Movement (an Asian rap group here in LA) and he said he is interested in collaborating.

So I am wanting to portray every aspect of hip-hop. You can read my blog to see some of the artists that I am wanting to include in the film. My question to you all is this: if this is a film you would want to see, what would you want to see covered in it? Any specific issues about hip-hop and Asian-American culture? Any particular people worth noting? Etc etc etc.

Quite a line-up!

If you can get this project going, that'd be pretty kick-ass.

Some other AsianAms I can think of in hip-hop you didn't list:

Blue Scholars
Hip-hop duo consisting of Filipino American emcee Geologic and Persian American DJ Sabzi. Socially-conscious hip-hop with old school flavor. Their 2004/2005 self-titled debut was voted best local/indie release by the Seattle Weekly newspaper here in Seattle.

Chan / Snakky Chan
KoreanAm emcee from the East Coast. I think he first got recognized on the underground circuit when an XXL magazine critic reviewed a LP release and gave it big props.

Mountain Brothers / CHOPS
Original AsianAm hip-hop pioneers. Group has since broken up, but CHOPS is still active producing music for the underground/mixtape circuit.

Magnetic North
Hip-hop duo from the BA.
