This was a thread on V2.0 that I assume didn't make it to V3.0, so I will start again.

The following sites are not Asian related, but I urge you guys to check them out. Hey, if anything, they are free music:

1) http://www.djsanonymous.org/archives/53
Featuring free downloads of name DJs who submit their sets.
Check out the other sets too, but Shir Khan (the one linked) strikes a goode balance between booty shaking stuff with the techy side of things.

2) http://rebelcrew.com/
Download both the Joe B. 30mins and Rebel Radio. Latin Hip Hop. The former is a clean mix while the latter is not as well stitched, but nonetheless got some really good tracks.

3) http://www.ruckusroboticus.com/home/index.html
Not free download, but definitely urge y'all to email him and order "the record playa." Really talented DJ, stitching together everything from the egyptian lover to the commodores to led zepplin to even the beatles. And a really nice kid to boot.

Let me know what you guys think!

Picked this up today and definitely liking it. She's got a Chinese pipa player and Chris Corsano (worked with Sonic Youth) on drums.

Wow! This is great; thanks for this, Silkie!

Just the other day i was thinking to myself how much of an old man I'd become; i'm still listening to the same old shit over and over. Back in the day i used to be all progressive and cool and listen to all these esoteric bands (not so esoteric anymore, as many have become mainstream). So I was feeling really out of it.

But not anymore! With DJsAnonymous, i can get my edge back and show the kids how cool Lopan really is with my new plethora of musical knowledge!

Queensryche: Operation Mindcrime2 (it hasnt hooked me like Mindcrime did...)
Teena Marie: La Dona (I cannot believe that chick is still hot... I feel like Im 14 again! - so obviously Im conflicted as to whether thats good or not...)
Fishbone: Give a Monkey a Brain and hell swear hes the center of the universe. (Im working on the rest of the album, but the first 3 songs have got me hooked)

I just waded through a bunch of crap on Hot107.9 in order to get the traffic reports.

I really hate that "I'm in love with a stripper" song.

Atlasien who is that by? Is the actual title called: "Im in love with a *itch at the strip club"?

The chorus goes something like: "...gimme some singles, gimme some singles..."?

That sounds like a completely different song about being in love with a stripper

It's this one:

... and should not be confused with another hit a few months ago by the same guy bragging about spending $500 in the strip club.

WHo are you calling yourself an old man? I am sure I am the same age as you!!! :D

Really though, it is all good with DJanonymous. I stumbled upon it because I was looking for a Gavin Hardkiss mix that he took off the web. Shir Khan is the shit though. It is a good mix of heady and fun stuff.

I was really stupid in that when I was spinning out, for about a good 7 years I just listened to mixed and electronic music and nothing else. That should be the time when I should be the most open minded, but for some reason I was more interested in stuff that I can "spin out."

Needless to say, now that I am an old man, i am digging through some old guilty pleasure like Teena Marie (hats off to you Kuro), old madonna, Hall and Oates, etc. Music is for fun, and I realize I should not take it too seriously.

But shit, I still cannot stand the shit they are playing on the US radio nowadays...
