I work with the public and deal with business transaction all the time. I deal with white , black, latin, brown, asian and everything all between.

One thing I learn from work is that there is one thing that shows people true colors. It 's the color of green. Anytime money is involved it can turn real ugly if they think your conning them. Forget about race. I have Korean people treating me and giving me a raw deal because of money. Sometimes I have white people that are nicer haha..

I remeber I had a conversation with someone a few years ago. According to him he believes classism is the real reason why we have a divide. I used to though it was racism.

Actually from working and seeing the different class out there. The more I look at it . It's all about the greens. People regardless of race all act the same when it comes to money. I mean I knew that but if you have money..boy people will come out of everywhere to be your friend...

I agree. When it comes to money all ethnicities and nationalities act like slimeballs.

And especially for the Asian cultures it's two things that matter: 1) What school you went to 2) How much money you make. Actually more about the second one since what school you went to directly leads to #2 (Asian parents aren't hoping their kids get into Harvard to become a minstrel).

Not to mention if you go to any of the Asian countries the Asian girls there are even more shameless gold-diggers. Doesn't matter if it's China, S.Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia... they're quite upfront about it too.

Unfortunately, the truth is that many Asians are greedy-ass motherfuckers and hella superficial when it comes to money. This is what I fucking hate about our culture. I once worked for a charity organization and I remember we tried to raise money locally for the Tsunami aid relief and it was hard as hell to get Asians to donate (mind you, we also went to many rich suburbs too). I mean, I understand being stingy with money is in the Asian blood but it got to the point where it kind of disillusioned me a little bit.

Yes, tar us all with the same brush, why don't you? I don't want to go into another lecture about how colonialism really did a number on Asian countries, because it's been repeated on this site for some time, but suffice to say, you're fucking stupid if you think that Asian girls are gold-diggers just because that's the stereotype.

And way to go for believing all the stereotypes about Asian cultures valuing money. You must have not attended your history classes when you were a student. Oh, wait, did you even go to school? After all, only "greedy-ass motherfuckers" go to good schools, eh?

people living in poverty will do things out of necessity, this doesn't make them gold-diggers and in addition it (asian women are gold-diggers) definitely is an ugly stereotype that doesn't speak for the majority of Asian girls that I know.....

for all the women that are full-blooded gold-diggers, well their karma will find them.

people that have the desire to go to a good school and valuing money.. well that usually is a social class move, not a race move.

While I wouldn't say that there are no asians like that, it's just unfair to make a sweeping generalisation. The continuing poverty in some areas as a lingering effect of colonialism colours the prevailing attitudes towards money. Also, local economic hardships (high unemployment, prices going up while salaries remain stagnant, six day workweeks etc.) and government corruption squeeze the ordinary citizen, making money all the more valuable just to survive.

Let's cut the bullcrap. Am I talking about you in particular? No. Yeah, so thanks for calling me a stupid fucktard. You act like I just came onto this board and believed all the bad stereotypes that whitey said about Asians.

Look, many of us are long-time members of this board and we've all seen hundreds of threads come and go over the years. We've probably talked about everything under the sun over the years from CCBism to white worshipping to Kalbi getting a white GF to bigfoot sightings to make-believe lesbian matchups between the female members on here and who knows what other things we've come up with.

But there were many many times in the past I've defended Asian societies and said what you said, "Oh that's just a stereotype. Oh it's the colonial influence." Because I didn't want to tar the Asian image.

But today, you know what, screw it. If I have to play devil's advocate, then so be it. I'm not going to sugarcoat this like I usually would cause it's one of the major problems with the Asian societies and I'm sick of making excuses. I'm not going to bring up the Western societies either cause we all know they're also full of shit and I've written gobs about it in the past... but that still doesn't excuse the Asian societies either.

In fact, I said what I said because it's the little dirty secret that we kinda gloss over when defending Asian societies. I stand by my assertion that Asian societies today are superficial beyond belief and it's become part of the culture. Even worse, it's become an ACCEPTED part of the culture. And yes, that includes the women AND the men. I also believe it's why corruption is so widespread and even tolerated. Seriously, there are many problems throughout Asia and this is one of the crux of the major problems that needs fixing badly. For anyone that can't see it... I say open your eyes.

Don't act as if I don't know how this board is run, you patronising asshat. I've been coming here a little longer than you have.

Dirty little secret? No one has ever said that what you've described never happens in Asia. On the contrary, we've acknowledged and discussed the aforementioned situations in detail. But it's one thing to write out a criticism about Asian societies, and another to write crap about Asian societies when you don't even live in an Asian country and experience its everyday lifestyles. I LIVE in South-east Asia; I KNOW about the problems, and hell, I've criticised many aspects about the systems in place.

I get the feeling that you look down on us, the Asians, because we're not as "enlightened" in your beloved Asian-American ways. You were probably born in Asia, but you want to forget that part of your life, huh? Maybe you're the one with the "dirty little secret", oh special one?

This is my last post on this topic. Flame wars are not my thing.

Edited to add: Can the mods please move this thread to "The Shadow Gallery"? It's pretty much derailed now.

I did not start a flame war. You did by calling me names. Again, did I attack YOU? No. You weren't even on my mind until you decided to enter this thread and start attacking me for whatever reason. If you don't agree with my post, fine. But again, I don't know where this anger is coming from.

And what is with this Asian-American vs. Asian thing that you brought up? I'm honestly confused and I'm not sure what you're talking about. It seems to me it shows your own insecurities more than my own. Again, I don't give a crap if it's Asian-Americans, Asian-Canadians, Asian-Australians, Asian-Africans, Asian-whatever... I call it like I sees it.

ah...kids kids..take it to fight club if you want to flame away.

I personally don't think Asian culture is an more money centered than any other culture. I deal with allot of people of different back grounds. When it comes to money they ALL pretty much act the same.

white, black, laitn ..asian whatever...when it comes to money I don't think Asian people are more greeder than anyone else. Is just that I was trying to show that people are people.

Money or whatever as you deal with people of different color we ' re pretty much the same.
