I saw a video that's been floating around of some Asian kid who beat the shit out of a white kid. As I understand it, the Asian kid transferred to a new school, didn't know anybody, and the white guy apparently was the resident bully and decided to fuck with him. They meet after school, and I don't think anyone's going to be bullying that kid anymore.

Of course, I don't know this for sure, the original video was taken down and this is all hearsay. Wouldn't surprise me if it's true, I'm sure a lot of us are familiar with the scenario.

Of course, the discussions on forums everywhere tend to turn into arguments about racism. Typical dumb shit, but you know that only a white dude could say shit like this:

Those kinds of situations are more like wolves circling a herd of caribou. They keep nipping at one of them, to see if it's weaker and sicker and slower than the rest. If it doesn't react, they close in for the kill.

Actually it is sort of true. If the taunts have no effect, then they will stop using them. The catch is that they stop using them because they just move to new taunts that do get an effect.

Working as a teacher, name calling / bullying is definitely a big issue among students, both girls and boys, though in my opinion, the focus of discipline tends to disproportionately directed toward boys. Boys tend to deal with it directly, usually physically... and as un-teacher like as it sounds, I sometimes think a "controlled fight" can be healthy. A lot of boys who bully quickly learn to shut up when they realize that the target of their bullying fights back.

For girls, it can be harder to detect, because the name calling / bullying happens more discretely and harm is done via rumor-spreading, manipulation, friendship wrecking, etc... things that have become a part of the category of "relational bullying". A good book on the subject:

But yeah... While I would have ZERO tolerance for racial / religious / gay slurs in my classroom, it's a bit disappointing when families and our society doesn't hold kids to the same high standard.

Just to keep it in perspective, I think the video is getting more fame than it deserves. It was a short sweet beatdown, but they're just a bunch of high school kids.

While I agree this is true in general, my experience in junior high was more straight-out unisex racist bullying done in public and private. No one ever attacked me but they would get real close and invade my personal space to yell "ching chong" at me. It only died down when I used physical force. Of course girls are socially conditioned not to use physical force, so the effect of a girl hitting back is much stronger than with a boy.

I took it to the guidance counselor first, and remember him telling me to come back when I had a real problem :rolleyes:

You know, on a related topic, this is real fucking sad that youtube or whoever is able to enforce the takedown of this video so effectively, but it seems like the demand to take the Chinese Freestyle videos are falling on deaf ears.

I don't think its illegal to post their names, as long as theres no official investigation or law suit is involved. But I could be wrong.
Bullying, in my opinion, transcends gender boundaries. Girls in a lot of cases use violence, and boys use social manipulation too. Theres also this new internet bullying thing, that boys and girls use. I think that the internet bullying pulls boys away from the physcial bullying, especially since the punishment for hitting someone is more severe than saying something. Bullies are just insecure people who need to assert their domination over people.

That’s true. Bullies will continue picking on victims that never retaliate. So you gotta stand up to them (not necessarily physically) and show them that you’re not going to be pushed around that easily.

I am sure it is true. It happened to me when I was in HS. I was taunted on the bus day after day, until I stood up and I socked him one in the face. I was a really skinny so I was an easy target for him. The next day the fat-assed white boy apologized. Worst he had an Asian friend who laughed at me being taunted.

the bully called scott a chink, gook, pussy. it was schoolyard bullying mixed with racism and"lets get the new kid" shiet.

he's only 14 years old in that video. the other guy is 16yrs old. i think we need more asian males(and femles) like this in our community. We need (both mental and physical)fighters! (not that "oh just ignore i it will go away" bs)

I saw a few seconds of the video, and it was brutal. It was as if the white kid stopped defending himself and let the Asian kid punch him in the face a few times. I've seen heavyweight fights with less brutality than this. Wow.

wow... when that kid threw down his shirt I can imagine some of the dudes on the side going "oh shit...". That kid's jacked!

Anyway, that kid's definitely a wrestler, especially seeing how he threw that guy over his back, and plus his low stance. The bully on the other hand had a south paw stance and apparently he wasn't ready for the kid rushing it like that.

The sucker punch in the end is also SWEEEETT. Sure, it's not honorable, but man, seeing how the bully was completely despirited and scared while turning his back just to be slugged hard by the kid, and you know then that there is going to be one less bully in the world :)
