Wow... weird. I'd never heard of any anti-semitism in Korea until this, I'd always just assumed Koreans didn't know anything about anything Jewish (except the Talmud, which seems to be like Aesop's Fables here). I mean people asked me oh, you're Jewish, so you believe in Jesus, right? No big deal, I mean how many Jews are here anyway.

So anyway, obviously it was a subject I never saw much reason to bring up. People occassionally asked me my religion, I told them, they nodded their heads and we moved on, next topic. Last night we were drinking with some of my co-workers and students as a farewell party for my mom heading back to the States (we brought plenty of whiskey for the occasion). One guy mentioned to my mom, oh, Hater said you were Jewish. She said well actually his father is.. he nodded his head and said "So how does your husband feel about Jews controlling the world?" Back home that would have been fighting words but he said with a complete lack of malice, just plain curiousity.

Hmm, anyway, I guess I don't have much to say about it, but this Rhie Won-bok needs to do something.. I mean millions of copies of this book were sold.
