This forum looked kind of blank, so I'll whine about my car troubles.

Basically, I'm from Texas and I've never experienced the HASSLE of having a car in the winter until now. I just went and bought my first window scraper yesterday. I'm just wondering if there's anything I need to do to take care of my car.

Oh, and did I mention I wish I was going to school someplace WARM instead?

The salt and sand from the roads is murder on your car so wash it whenever you get the chance in the winter, especially underneath your car. If you don't want to physically get wet and opt for the automatic car wash, there should be an option to wash the under carriage for your car. It'll be something extra, but many people neglect to wash down there and end up with a lot of corrosion and rust down the line.

This is exactly the kind of whining we want! The kind that fills up empty forums! ;)

Haha, I grew up in Ottawa, Canada, where we have winter for five months a year.

When I was in San Antonio a while back, I remember the cabby saying about how when winter comes, they "break out the leathers." We break out the if-I-don't-wear-this-I-am-going-to-die gear.

(Although I admit it's a bit better than that in Vancouver.)

Ah, but when you have freak snowfall in Vancouver, then it's a whole 'nother story, innit? :P

A set of snow tires can make all the difference when driving in winter, I have Bridgestone Blizzaks and it has made winter driving a breeze this year.

Underbody wash is KEY!

I'm also rocking the snow tires, because I killed my all seasons. I have two sets of wheels though, understandable that most people wouldn't bother.
