Angry Asian Man links to a few articles talking about the racial joke against AAs that recently ran in the Princetonian.

The article's here:

Chang Rae Lee has a GREAT response:

Chang-rae Lee, an author and creative writing professor at Princeton who immigrated to the United States from Korea at 3, said of the parody, ìIt certainly could have been funny, perhaps hilarious, and painfully so, had it smartly satirized and skewered all involved, while underscoring the very complicated issue of Asian-American admissions practices at elite colleges ó real and perceived.î

He added, ìInstead the piece employed the easiest, basest stereotypes of culture and character and voice for its sensational aims, offering little more than the most juvenile gloss on the issues.

ìFrankly, the piece astounds me not so much for its racism as its stupidity,î he said.

I just want to keep this on record because you could use this as a template for EVERY dumbass racial joke you here.

This, combined with a link to Russell Peters (showing how racial jokes are done PROPERLY) would be my standard response to every dumbass out there.

Yeah, what really bugs me about the Prince's editor's response is this:

Many criticisms of the column, however, do not recognize its purpose. Using hyperbole and an unbelievable string of stereotypes, we hoped to lampoon racism by showing it at its most outrageous. We embraced racist language in order to strangle it. At its worst, the column was a bad joke; at its best, it provoked serious thought about issues of race, fairness and diversity.

Basically, it's called pulling monkeys out of your ass to find a post-rationalized excuse. I wrote a response to the editor, but I think what Racilious has to say pretty much covers it:

(D, note that someone on the reader's comment quoted your piece as an example of a racial parody done correctly- hats off...)

You can send an email insisting on the firing of the editor and author
to the this email address.

I sent the faggot this letter:

Dear Chanakya Sethi,

I recently read a NY Times article discussing a recent
"parody" that was published on the Daily Princetonian.
In light of all the reverse-engineered reasons
provided by yourself on why this appalling piece was
published, it was clearly inappropriate. I was fairly
shocked to find out that the editor-in-chief was of
Asian heritage.

I would like to pose a question to you:

Would you have given approval of a parody to be
published in the Princetonian had the subject of
ridicule been of Indian decent? Or how about African?
Or European?

My point is that you deemed it OK to publish a
blatantly racist piece that pokes fun at East-Asians;
however, I doubt you would have approved the same had
the subject have been any other race. Your
insensitive act and poor judgement will not go
un-noticed.

I'm not looking to make anyone's life any harder than
life already is, but I hope you are able to step back
from this situation and look at it in a different
perspective and see how you would feel if you were of
East Asian descent. I'm sure you deal with racism on
a daily basis yourself, so it baffles me how you could
have given the parody approval for print.

Yours sincerely,

Jimmy Hyun
