^ The point isn't just if they can be taken seriously by random folks, but if they can produce any positive results.

What do you mean by taken seriously? By who? By random Asian folks? random non-asian folks? Fellow activists in the same organization? Fellow activists in another organization? What does it mean to be taken seriously? Does it mean random folks are accepting of you or group members or fellow activists in general? I mean, that's going to really depend on the person, where they live, what organization they belong to and a hostof other things.

I think you can only say your POV, but you can't speak for other people. so, are you asking if individuals here can accept that, or if you think people (and specify) can accept an asian activist in an IR.

Yes they can be taken seriously because they are doing more than what the the vast majority of Asian people do- (which is absolutely nothing)

well the idea of this thread came about when i saw the clip of Gina from top model on youtube titled "the confused asian girl". the clip shows how she claims to be a strong asian women yet doesnt date asian men. then, tyra banks just made her feel like a dumb ass which seemed like she lost a whole lot of respect as a person in general. i dont have the link to the clip, but its somewhere in this forum.

Gina was an aspiring model, not an activist. Besides, Tyra has dated out herself, so losing respect for Gina wasn't based on the fact that she wasn't dating a man, but that Gina felt she doesn't date Asian men due to a perceived inferiority of Asian men.
