I just realized this is where every one is supposed to introduce themselves.

I'm Vera, 38 married with a six year old. I'm a social worker from Phoenix Az. A few posters (Impact-Blue, Fandango, wzhao) have said to me that this is a rather refreshing to visit and to share thoughts, ideas and opinions. I'm multiracial black (my signature says it all :lol: ). I enjoy studying Mandarin language and Hanzi. My hobby includes creating miniature art of clay and wood. I attend Arizona State working on my master's in social work (I know, I'll never be rich :| ), but I enjoy it.

My career goal is to help people with mental illnesses become empowered and productive members of society instead of counting on the government alone for survival. Yep, it takes a lot of creativity :lol: .

I have a very open mind and am sensitive to many issues experienced by others. I'm in a rather "different" situation in life when it comes to society and experiences. I most definitely can relate to several issues shared with me by some Americans of Asian decent. I've also discovered similar mindset, values and philosophies. I guess you'll learn more about me as I post. It's nice to see familiar names here. I now know where all the cool people went :wink:

Glad to see you came onboard with us! Nice to see another social worker who cares about helping those less fortunate. You're a breath of fresh air in the other forums, I know you'll bring a new perspective with your posts in thos forum!

Well, what I left out in my FIRST post was that I was EX-Navy.." That is how I met my GREAT man. I was born in K.C, Mo. I could not wait to get out of the USA!!! But, seeing the world and still seeing it is a EYE opener.." I been to Iceland, Spain, Italy( two year of it), Bahrain( two year of that also), Ireland ( two times, once for vacation then the other time was when my ship went), and a few other places that I can not recall right now, I am sleepy.." I have to look at my old photos and my video tapes, that I made over the years. I would be so busy doing work that I did not care where I was most of the time. I spent 8 years as a POSTAL CLERK.
How is living in AZ.?? Are they as crazy with race, like Mo.??
In Japan, it kind of sucks.." Because, my hubby is always gone!!!!!!!!! I don"t talk to any of the other wives.." Because, I ALREADY know how they are.." I seen those kind of people EIGHT years straight!!! So, I either e-mail my family and friends or play the SIMS.." Because, I don't feel like being bothered after work.." I like your intro..." It was more than what I was willing to put. I just did not want to tell just ALL of my life you know? But, I feel better to know that I am not alone in this POST. But, the folk here seem COOL and down to earth.." I like that.."
