Hello Fighting 44's. I figure I should post an introduction as I just submitted my first post on this site. I've read the "Declarations of Intent" and the rules, and I'm a firm believer in the power of the internet as a forum for open and intelligent discussions without personal attacks.
I'm a 40 year old ethnic Chinese male living in Los Angeles. I was born in Taiwan, with ethnic Chinese parents (not Taiwanese). I speak Mandarin pretty fluently, but unfortunately, my reading and writing skills are very poor. I left Taiwan at the age of seven, when my family immigrated to the island of Guam. That's where I got my U.S. citizenship.
I spent all my childhood on the island of Guam, leaving there after high school for college in California. Therefore, I sometimes consider myself a Pacific Islander.
I work in the aerospace industry. My background is in physics, but I mostly do engineering these days.
One of my hobbies is screenwriting, not exactly a unique activity here in La-La land, but it's a nice creative outlet for me. Not that I wouldn't mind having one of my stories on the big screen, of course.
I'm looking forward to exchanging and learning some new ideas from everyone here on the Fighting 44's.
