Hee. My two favorite parts are about saturating the sushi with soy sauce and then at the end with the bowl of salt by the door.

The dirty fingernails on the chef were especially nasty... But on a note of accuracy I thought the soy sauce bath for the sushi was missing the 2 tablespoons of wasabi that most Americans put into it mixing it poorly until it looks like Shreks bathwater. In my experience of eating sushi with Americans THIS style is the most popular.

The part where the taisho wipes down the cutting board with the zohkin(moist towel), then his neck and face AND THEN the cutting knife freaked me out. This is after the narrator mentions the zohkin is used to wipe down floors and not washed after every use to show respect for everyday items. I have no problems NOT asking the taisho about his personal life, I don't think I wanna know.
The drink pouring part was fun though, "Maa maa maa...Oh Toh toh toh toh"and curious statements like, "This is why Japanese people smell of vinegar" and "gari- no one knows where it's made from"

Actually, this "documentary" is more or less a mockumentary. any guy that wipes his face then wipes the knife will be promptly kicked out by disgusted (and infuriated) customers- and word about unsanitary places get around quickly in Japan. The part about the salt is also... bullshit.
Gari is pickeled ginger. The really good gari isn't bright pink, but a nice, buttery color. The inferior quality gets dyed with colors to cover up cosmetic flaws (like uneven color).
The thing is, I find some of these mockumentaries funny, but I hate it when I have to explain to dumbasses that what they say was false and not factual...

I don't think anyone who watched the whole thing thought it was real.
Sure made me crave some sushi, though. Who says we're not influenced by the media?

You would be frightened at what some people will believe. I swear to god, some dumbass ignoramus is out there that believes the video was factual.
