1. Act as if you're in the same room with another human being

That's Rule Number One. Everything develops from there. This is a place for respect, for wit, for intelligence, for having a good time. Talk to each other like we're all having a drink at the same table, and we'll all be better for it.

2. Be as smart as you can possibly be.

If you want to participate in an intellectual discussion, be intellectual!

3. Be as cool as you can possibly be.

We do not judge anyone based on race or gender or class. If you're wondering why 44s appeals so much to non-Asians, it's because we have set it up that way. We like people, especially when they bring their experience, enthusiasm, and creativity to the table in an open and compassionate way.

4. Archive your posts.

Whenever you write a post you're particularly fond of, make sure you save it in a file on your own computer somewhere. We can prune at any time.

5. Don't be dumb.

If you want to rant or let off steam, go to the appropriate forum. Don't attack people's character, and definitely not their race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. Be smart and funny.

But then, anyone who deserves to be here already knew all this intuitively, right?

Happy posting!
