If you've got spoilers about LOST this is where you post them. Be sure to include some sort of link to your source. Make sure you specify when something is a spoiler, and when something is speculation based on a spoiler and we will all get along fine.

Cool. I read an interview of DDK and he mentioned that he's always discussing his role with the Lost producers and expressing concern over stereotyping or portraying AA's as one dimensional.
I wonder if the deeper development of his character is a result of these efforts. If so, it shows that AA actors can indeed influence things if they try.

Ok, somewhat spoilery stuff, but nothing major at all, just something put out by the networks.
I think this week's episode backstory centers around Hurley. The title of the episode is Everybody hates Hugo. This is from abc's website: Wednesday, Oct. 12, 9/8c
"Everybody Hates Hugo"
Disturbing memories from Hurley's past cause him to struggle with a task he's assigned inside the hatch. Meanwhile Sawyer, Michael and Jin discover the identities of their captors, and Claire uncovers a shocking piece of information about the fate of the raft. (http://abc.go.com/primetime/lost/index.html)
Next week is called ... And Found. That's the episode that centers around Jin.

If you click on this AOL.com link (http://television.aol.com/feature/lost_tv) and you click on Food Fantasy you can see how Jin is able to speak English. There's two other spoiler clips as well after that one.

NOTHING EVER HAPPENS ON THIS SHOW!!!
In American comics, we call this "decompressed storytelling," meaning you tell a story in six issues what you should be able to tell in one with more impact. But they tell it in six so they can collect it for the trade paperback, or in this case, they tell it in 24 so they can collect it for the DVDs.
EVERY TIME I WATCH THIS DAMN SHOW, I WAIT FOR SOMETHING TO HAPPEN AND NOTHING EVER DOES!!!

I thought it was funny Sawyer called Jin "Chewy" as in Chewbacca from Stars Wars. Michael and Jin totally have the same communication vibe as Han/Chewy.
I liked how Jin and Sun met almost by fate - the flash of "orange" was a nice touch.
But yeah, it was cool to see them flesh out Jin and Sun's characters more, especially Jin - OMG an Asian guy on Primetime television being portrayed as a flawed, but ultimately a moral, loyal, and good, guy?! The Apocalypse must be nearly at hand.
Anybody wanna guess that Shannon's going to bite it next? Her character hasn't had an episode yet and she doesn't serve much of a purpose in the show beside being Sayid's GF...

True, but it looks like they're making it that her character has a connection with Walt based on the previews. Of course that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Great episode. The last scene when Sun found the ring and had her flashback was especially touching. I also thought the bald guy was going to say that he was gay and that he wanted to use Sun as a fake girlfriend to deceive his parents.

Not sad to see her go, after the death of her brother, she really didn't contribute much to the show. Also heard from one of the spoiler sites the reason why they were getting rid of her was over money - she was playing hardball. Pretty silly if you ask me, when any member of the cast is expendable.
I too enjoyed the fleshing out of Jin and Sun's past and how they met (which was cute - literally bumped into each other).
Anyone else think that Jin's english is improving quite quickly?

That was totally cool (both the fleshing out of Jin and Sun's characters and the American gf - I particularly liked the fact that Sun isn't the stereotypical "golddigger" AF).
The next step is to have an AAM/AAF couple as regular cast members on a show - and then an AAM/WF couple (just to help balance things out).
The actor who played Mr. Lee also had a guest role on "The West Wing" where he played a classical pianist from NCorea who wanted to defect - nice to see him getting additional work (not that there seems to be more opportunities ...a NCorean agent on "24"?).
The season premiere for "Lost" was a bit disappointing (NOTHING happened as opposed to almost nothing happening), but after that - the show has been pretty darn interesting (damn, I got hooked on it over the summer).

Just saw the last 1.5 eps: the last half of the Eko one and then the meeting the Others one. Once again an excellent and suspenseful study in having almost nothing happen. That leader of the Others reminded me of that crazy bearded dude from Survivor. They should've shot him. And they should shoot a few other characters, too, like Michael, Locke, Sawyer, Kate, Merry, Merry's chick, the baby, the Pillsbury dude, Michelle Rodriguez, and heck I'll throw in Jin's wife. They all annoy me to various degrees. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the show, I just don't seem to like any of the characters, except maybe Jin, and that's only 'cause I'd Brokeback him. I don't even like the Iraqi dude. Eko's borderline. Man, I don't even like the Monster. I like the island, though. And the little I-Ching things, I admit those are cool.

Dumbass Kate got caught and now The Others got more gats... Jack's AK, Sawyers 1911, a couple of SIG226s (Jack & Locke), and a Beretta (Locke's 2nd gun, but I didn't get a good look)!
Another gun nut note: I'm pretty sure the leader of The Others was packing an infamous Walther P38 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walther_P38) that he held to Kate's throat. This gun was the standard German sidearm during WWII.
My new LOST theory: the Others are the descendants of an evil group of marooned Thule Society Nazis and the Black Rock slave traders!!!

New episode tonight.
Sun reveals that she's pregnant (as seen in the last trailer). I predict Jin will go ballistic, assuming that one of the "others" raped her when she was unconscious, and go after them. He'll convince Sawyer to go with him, since he has the guns. Everyone else will try and prevent this, and someone will die in the scuffle. By the way, it could have been the drug addict who raped her when he attacked her.

so what happened in the episode?
The episode was all about Jin and Sun and their backstory, with a subplot being Ana Lucia, Sayid, and Charlie going off on an expedition to find the guy's balloon.
Not much happened, except that Sun takes a pregnancy test and it comes out positive, with the added mystery of supposedly Jin shooting blanks. However, Sun swears to Jin that she hasn't been with anyone else and Jin accepts her explanation (after all, they're miracle island - Locke got his ability to walk back). There's lots of scenes of Jin and Sun behaving like a normal married couple, fighting and then making up.
I liked the fact that Jin's character wasn't portrayed as a Joy Luck Club-esque AM asshole, and he's shown to be a loving husband who's just a little overprotective of his wife (who did get kidnapped a few episodes back).

So I've been reading up a little on Lost and I'm curious, are all the people that Sun could have been involved with--her boyfriends from the flashbacks-- all Korean?
aelward
Mar 23rd, 2006, 08:48 AM
She could only have been involved with one other guy-- who was introduced last season as the son of a rich hotel magnate, who studied Russian literature at Harvard. The two were set up via match-maker, but it turns out the guy only did it to please his father and that was in-fact, planning on escaping to the U.S. so he could marry a woman there.
Turns out he was still around, and had been teaching Sun English. He, himself, spoke perfect English; don't know how good his Korean was.
I'm wondering how honest Sun was being, did you see her face when they were hugging after Jin says "Then it is a miracle"?
Me, I had still been holding out hope that Jin could speak perfect English, and that would come out later-- but tonight's episode thoroughly dashed that....
Anyway, with all the baby-stealing going on, it will be interesting to see how Sun's pregnancy plays out.

The chick convinces him that it's not all in his head, they kiss a couple of times and walk away from the cliff. Then there's another flash back to the asylum, again it's the moment when the shrink takes a pic of Hurly and his imaginary friend. This time the camera pans across the room and reveals Libby as one of the patients.
Sheí all zombied out and being given her meds. So apparently the reason Hurly thought she looked familiar was because she was one of the patients.

OK, this last episode has me thinking: basically, Locke got healed in season 1, and it is revealed that Rose has been healed of her disease as well. The idea, at least according to the healer in Australia, is that there are certain places on earth that heal others.
Perhaps this explains why Jin is no longer shooting blanks? Assuming the kid is his, that is.

Seriously, that shit they pull of not answering any character's questions directly when another asks a question was slightly tolerable in the first two seasons. Though now, it's just getting damn annoying and not just in that stupid little "technique" the writers have been doing/are doing to stretch the material of the show. I'm also talking about how much dumber most of them have become save Jack and Sawyer whom both had slightly redeeming moments in trying to learn about their captors or escape.

I watched the first season of Lost. Thought it was good. I watched the second season of Lost. Not only did it SUCK, but I can not give you an example of anything important that happenned during season 2. Some new characters were added, we were given their flashbacks, then they were killed off. Hah! And I have heard people say that Lost is like a fine dish of food that you have to be highly intelligent to enjoy. UmmÖNO. There is a VERY thin line between revolutionary art and pure crap. The producers of lost (and by the way, why does the show have like 15 producers???) tricked us the first year into thinking Lost was some great new concept in television. In the end it turns out they simply created a huge pile of crap that they couldnít get themselves out of. I told a friend of mine that anyone can come up with an amazing idea for a television seriesÖand it will last one year unless you have planned out where it is going. You cant just come up with an incredibly complex and mysterious plot unless you are intelligent enough to know how it will play out. Lost was surely not thought out. It was just ìlets make something extremely different and worry about the rest later.î That is why LOST SUCKS and why THE WRITING HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THIS SEASON THE DIALOGUE IS HORRIBLE. Got
So what the hell happened? Did the writers really write themselves into a corner?
I read PVPonline daily, and one of the things Scott Kurtz mentioned on his blog was that he's not going to read anymore posts on the forums regarding his storylines. He's a bit peeved since everytime he comes up with a new story arc, his readership poo-poos all the mystery away by conjecturing on every possible alternate outcome to his stories, so that when he finally concludes his story arcs, it was inevitably someone's "idea".
so what do you think? Do you think the fans have pretty much ruined their own show by speculating on all the outcomes, forcing the Producers to run around trying to figure out how to conclude this series to everyone's satisfaction?

A couple of things came up when I watched this episode - you know how the Losties hear the whispering in the jungle every now and then? Does that mean that there are other inviso-people walking around like Jacob?
And the whole thing with Richard always looking the same? In the beginning of the show you see Ben holding the doll that Annie made for him, and Richard asks him what it is. And ben tells him it's his birthday and says "You remember birthdays don't you?". I wonder if somehow Richard is immortal in some way?

I did like this one, no spookiness but it was fairly well done. Can't decide if I want Charlie dead or not, but I get the feeling someone has to die and I like Locke a hell of a lot better. Anyway the two women at the end...yeah, I'm going to take a guess and say they're from Naomi's ship. Just 'cause.
Season's almost over. Finale is 2 hours which should be interesting. One thing I'm still waiting for is the Dannielle Rousseau episode. Am I the only person who loves this character?

Danielle is my favorite character.
This episode was pretty entertaining and was a good set up for next week.

*gasp*
I knew there was someone that understood...
Seriously though, she's a badass, and the scene when Sayid fixes the music box was sooo sad. It's about time those selfish Losties did something nice for her.
Hey wasn't Charlie writing his "Greatest Hits" before he knew Desmond's latest vision? I don't know that seems slightly odd to me.

I've always been annoyed by Charlie, from the very beginning. Little whining brat. I was waiting for him to go off to the big island in the sky. But the mood of yesterday's show made me feel so sorry for him. I had a feeling by the melodrama that Desmond was going to take his place; but I guess the underwater observatory NOT being flooded and Charlie living was quite a surprise.

Arg, this episode raised more questions than it answered. Is Jack's dad alive in the flash-forward? What's the landing strip for? Who's in the short coffin? If they got rescued, why would they need to go back?
Glad to see Walt in this, even as a hallucination/vision. It made me feel like some old stuff might be addressed in future episodes. And what do you know, Jack likes Nirvana.
Hope season 4 starts with a bang and not a whimper.

No, I think jack's dad is still dead. No idea what the landing strip is for. The short coffin is for the new character who's obit was found by Jack (according to other forums) and looks like we'll find out what that new character says to them for needing them to stay on the island. Btw, Naomi got a raw deal in that death.

New character? This is the first I've heard of it. But I did find this screenshot of the obit (http://bp0.blogger.com/_RrObyQ3XzcY/RlUe-1YihSI/AAAAAAAAFkw/ucINFuG1jfo/s1600-h/newspaperclipping2.jpg) and the visible part of the name doesn't seem familiar.
One interesting theory I read was that Charlie is the musician who programmed the Looking Glass device in an alternate timeline. He did punch in those numbers awfully fast.

Pretty crazy season finale with everything being set at some point in "the future".
The wifey made a good point to me in that this kinda parallels another JJ Abrams series, Alias, where at the end of one season, they "jumped" into the future.
So maybe Season 4 will concern all the "survivors" somehow trying to re-adjust to life in the US?
As for who's in the coffin... a character without any friends or family?
Makes me think it's Locke, or Sawyer...

They did that on Battlestar Galactica and the series finale of Voyager too. I think it's meant to blow yer mind. I have to admit this was a great episode regardless.

The flash-forward may have been a possible future, like dependent on what happens after they contact the freighter. In which case almost everything depends on Locke who seems to know what he's doing again. He could form an temporary alliance with Ben since they have the same goal to stop Jack from growing a beard. ^^
Thing is I don't believe Naomi is a liar because Sayid would have caught that shit like herpes.

No idea. "J__antham of New York" describes neither of them, but I'm starting to think that piece of paper was an easter egg. The real clue is Kate saying "why would I go" and Jack saying "nobody showed up" implying that a) more Losties survived, b) it's a guy they know and c) Kate has no attachment to him.
Gonna be a looong wait till we find out. :(

I'm pretty sure it's a jeremy bentham (or something bentham) as that was announced, or so I've read, and that it's yet another philosopher; we all know how they love to throw in the names of philosophers into the show.

That explains things. So Kate looks at the obit and says "Dude I don't know this Jeremy mofo, why the hell would I go to his funeral?" :D

Did she even know about the obit? I think Jack was the one that told her, and she's probably thinking whatever the fuck happened back then we don't owe him shit.

I just the saw the finale tonight, and i was a bit disappointed. It felt a bit anticlimactic.
Anyway, i think the dead guy in the obit is Walt. From what I could tell, the casket seemed a bit short. And the funeral home seemed to have been in a black neighbourhood. And wasn't Walt taken to New York by his mother initially? And the fact that noone showed up could mean that Michael is probably dead.
And the "he" that Kate is referring to could be Sawyer, who she might be living with now after the rescue.
I doubt John would have left the island, even if rescue did come.

Oh, sweet! I feel like Ken Leung's career is really taking off, the same way Daniel Dae Kim's career did a few years ago--yeah I used to watch Angel.
I just realized that KL was in The Squid and the Whale.

Ken Leung Gets Lost
Source: TV Guide
August 19, 2007
TV Guide has learned that Ken Leung, who played Uncle Junior's mentally unstable protégé on "The Sopranos" last season, is joining the cast of "Lost" next season.
The magazine says Leung is expected to play Russell, a brilliant mathematician who is capable of great insights and has a tremendous knowledge across various scientific fields. He will first turn up in February's season premiere.
Leung also played Kid Omega in X-Men: The Last Stand.

Also joining the cast will be the clones of Nikki and Paulo, the head detective from HBO's The Wire and some Charles Manson-looking dude. =S

I thought the scene with the vacuum cleaner to be pretty interesting. At first, I was like "WTF".
SPOILER
I like the fact he's got psychic powers to talk to the dead. Maybe he's connected somehow to Walt?
I guess now they can kill any character and Ken Leung's character can still talk to them to get info.

You can practically hear the writers laughing in the background with all the intentional hint-dropping and clues.
Sawyer and Kate look like they hit skins but it turns out they didn't go all the way.
Then you see the baby and it's blonde.
Then... *BAM* she calls the baby "Aaron".
Kate = baby thief now?

I think only Korean speakers caught this, but when Jin was buying the panda (I can't remember if it was for the first or second panda) he was on the phone speaking in a more formal way than a guy would speak to his wife and I knew he wasn't going to take the panda to Sun.

Yea but I figured that Jin wouldn't have been talking directly to Sun but one of her doctors instead. I also figured that it wasn't her because of how obsessed he was with buying the panda and didn't seem to care about the birth which made me figure it was somebody else.
PS. Jeremy Bentham!!! That was the first time in a while where I think I physically went into shock. I don't think I can wait a year for the next season.
Oh and you can read the spoilers here: http://lostpedia.com/wiki/There%27s_No_Place_Like_Home%2C_Parts_2_%26_3
but this is an episode I recommend you actually take the time to watch it'll be worth it.

This show still pisses me off, I still don't even know what the damn premise is other than this random event happened to these people. I'll keep watching out of curiousity to see where it leads, but man there's just no main narrative aside from some kind of real estate war.

Well it's not like we have a "confirmed" death. I mean that mercenary was thought to be "confirmed" and he came back and then ended up dying for real.

A cool site:

It actually strings together a couple of theories that occurred to me, except the writer of this site has really gone HARDCORE in proving them...
