AZN MAN: You have some interesting insights into the entertainment world, thanks for sharing them.
Iím wondering if you can elaborate a bit more about your role and also how you got there (you can keep it as anonymous as you want :) )
Also, how ěwhiteî do you have to act to ensure your position?

I was a musician who got into computers as a real job. I was able to get a gig at a major studio but had no desire to be in a creative capacity, having done it already. I received and read the scripts for all the studio releases, and one day I decided to write my own because it was a challenge. From there, I wrote 2 more; one of which had a scene lifted that made its way into the film "Catwoman". That signaled to me that I had the goods to write. From there I created a film short with my friend, and now I have biz contacts looking for production deals with several of my screenplays.
Also, how ěwhiteî do you have to act to ensure your position?
I don't act white, I am what I am. What I do is behave in a PC manner. But, I'll make one thing clear: I am very PRO-ASIAN and will not tolerate any racially intolerant BS from any White person, no matter who they are. Case in point; a publicist once told me what Tom Cruise said to Hiroyuki Sanada; if he said that same sh*t to me, I'd beat his AZZ. He's smaller than me and can't fight worth a damn.

What exactly did Tom say?

Oh wow, thatís interesting. Iím curious, but do you network w/ other AAs in the industry? How active are they in promoting AAs? Or is it just impossible w/ their position?

The vast majority of AAs I've met are in no position to get something done, promoting or otherwise. Furthermore, they seem to be divided and that's disheartening. Most of the peeps (including some heavy hitters) that I've met with recently are from Asia, not the U.S. They can get something done, but it starts in Asia and comes here, not the other way around.
BTW, I was flattered over the last few months as some of these Asian peeps feel that I'm a rarity; an AA that understands film production for Asians. They feel that most AAs don't understand how to make a film for Asia, only the U.S.; however I feel that that is slowly changing. But the good news is > one of those heavy hitters loved a screenplay I wrote and may be willing to invest some $, contingent upon me securing a name Director and 2 Actors. Don't get too excited, this could take some time as it will all take place in China.

I don't know what came over me, maybe I felt a sudden burst of keyboard jockey power when I mentioned the Tom Cruise bit. Respectfully, I need to refrain from mentioning specific names as I don't know who I might end up working with in the future.
Just so you know, my buddy (who is a neighbor of mine) just finished working with Tom on a film. He plays ... a Corean gangster
