Any recommendations? If so, what language do they perform in?

I like "Mongol 800"--they are little mainstream for punk, but their lyrical style is cool. They perform in poetic/non-fluent English and Japanese.

Fucken Japanese musicians squaking away in their "Ah-so!" English is so fucking stupid. Some dude lent me his old "Dragon Ash" CD (when they were punkers and not rappers), and I thought it was retarded.

Some AMERICAN Asian punk bands:

- NEMO ( www.nemorocks.com ). It's some more of the Sum41 shit - pop-punk, basically.

- Mike Park/Skankin' Pickle - from Asian Man Records. Not my cup of tea, but punk nonetheless.

Isn't "ah-so" white people talking broken Japanese? What in the fuck are you talking about? Have you even heard Mongol 800? Have you heard their Japanese songs? Do you understand what they mean?

You hate Japanese Punk because you hate Dragon Ash? What does that even mean?

If they're Asian American OF COURSE they would speak English because English is their language.

i recommend Crying Nut, No Brain, (their first two or three CDs)...they're korean punk bands. Puffy is kinda pop-punky. Japanese group. Singer is sexy, imo.

Skankin' Pickle is punk/ska...

beatnik termites is a bubblegummy pop punk band. their singer is Pat Kim, i think he's gyopo, and from ohio or somewhere in the midwest. i once went to a show and he hardly noticed me even though i'm a gook. and i wrote him an email once time but he never responded. ha. twinkie, i dunno.

not into the punk scene anymore, especially in n. america though.

other stuff i recommend that's not specifically asian is Ramones (their anthology is a fun place to start) Clash 'London Calling', Operation Ivy, Jawbreaker...

i know like hip hop but shiet, music goes past genre for me these days.

The band that I keep hearing, getting the big props is Guitar Wolf. They regularly packed them in at CBGB in the day. I heard a few items and they're of the Ramones school with a bit more rockabilly thrown in.

Electric Eel Bite, I hear they get props in England. I heard a bit from them and they're of that rockabilly school. One thing you can't accuse these guys of being is a pretty boy band.

Both bands did better in the West than in Japan.

There's also Balzac who seems to be a Japanese tribute band to the Misfits. However they do it great and the Misfits themselves like 'em enough that they worked on a collaborative project together.
