Hey, i just got a request from a relative for a MP4 player. Can someone help me and tell me what this is, who makes it and which one I should get? (I confirmed, it is MP4, not MP3)

Thank you!!!

It's a video format that allows different codecs (compression schemes like DivX) to be plugged in.

It's also for audio.

Alot of PMP/PVP (personal media/video players) support mp4 video/audio playback. I would check large brand names like Archos, Creative, iRiver and the like to see what portable players and devices they offer.

So i'm going back to asia soon, and i was looking at MP4 players again. Archos come in sizes from 20 - 100 GB. then my dad said he saw some people play video on Sony PSP? I thought it was for games, but he said there are discs you can play. Memory seems low at 32MB. Any insight?

Thank you!

They're on the PSP media, and you have to buy the videos separately (they're around the same price as DVDs, but you can only play them on the PSP. There's gouging for ya)

I know some people have run hello world on the PSP, so it's theoretically possible to write a DivX player to run movies off of a bigger memory stick.

So I called my uncle and he says that he saw a friend with a MP4 player that has a TV tuner??!! I can't seem to find any with those kind of capabilities. I did a google search and it seems like there are lot more of these kinds of gadgets made in China. Any idea? Thanks!
