In numerology, you add the two numbers together 4+4 so we become transformed in the end into the lucky number 8.

Ah, but if you multiply them, you get sixteen, and those two digits add up to 7, which is one less than eight, implying that there's something missing about us, like we're not all there ....

Well, 7 is a lucky number, too. Is it as lucky as 8? I dunno. But for certain chi-intensive meditation techniques, the after-meditation practices are done in sevens. Like, do one thing 7 times, then the other thing 7 times, and so on.

If you go by letters of the alphabet, 44 would also be DD. Think about that.

And don't forget the .44 magnum. You know how we all love guns.

True, that. We're not all there.

In the song Frankie and Johnny she blows away a cheating husband with a 44.
No linkage at all to our stalwart 44 brothers. :D

I don't know if anyone noticed this, but THERE'S A JERSEY ON HAROLD'S OFFICE WALL IN HAROLD AND KUMAR GO TO WHITECASTLE WITH A 44 ON THE BACK. It's a SIGN.

You'll notice that I've briefly updated the thread under the Declarations about the significance of 44. It turns out that the 44th I-Ching configuration conveniently symbolizes one of the key, if not the key, goals of F44s: to create a community.

It also provides the PERFECT solution to anyone who wants to get a 44s tattoo. Poisenedrice mentioned way back that he was considering getting "44" tatted on his arm in Chinese, until he realized it was silly, which it is. 44 in English/ Arabic numerals is even worse. But the 44th configuration in solid/ broken lines is PERFECT.

I may do it myself some time. I'd recommend getting either black or dark red bars.

OT: Speaking of that how about a rub on tat? Or better yet, are you guys still gonna do merchandise?

Yeah, that's still on our minds. If we do, we're basically gonna get a Cafepress corporate account and skin it to look like this site, so we can offer whatever they can offer. We don't really foresee any significant sales, but hopefully we'll make enough to cover the monthly cafeepress fee and hosting of this site!

I thought it odd there was no mention that "44" in 1337 is "AA"; ie: "The Fighting Asian Americans".

Before I read this topic I thought for sure that's what it meant. Unless I'm missing something.

Ummmmm...hi, I'm new.

I don't know what this means! What's 1337?

And welcome to the 44s! Glad you're aboard, and nice angry-lookin' mohawk avatar!

I can't believe I didn't make the connection before. I must be spending too much time away from online games. I'm pretty glad that leetspeak wasn't behind the choice in names, though.

I don't know why, but that particular Wiki entry amuses the hell out of me.

Thanks for the welcome, Dialectic.

Thanks for the heads-up on this, guys! It was certainly not based on any sort of Leet, but I don't mind the interpretation, as we have another pleasant coincidence! I knew this name was genius.
