I often find myself perusing the same old forums and websites again and again. How about everyone recommending a good website that others might not know about but would be of benefit to people on whatever level?
My recommendation is Phil Plait's badastronomy.com. His site offers up science at an easy to understand level for the layman without being condescending. The basic premise is to take a look at bad science (contrary to the name it's not just all about astronomy though most of it is) as it is presented in the media and to show how things really work. I like his critiques of movies and TV shows especially. Warning to all of you Star Wars fans, he's not gentle.

i'll check out badastronomy.com just because i can't fucking stand star wars.
here's a good one for ya'll. mediaed.org--the media education foundation.
from they're faq: "The Media Education Foundation produces and distributes video documentaries to encourage critical thinking and debate about the relationship between media ownership, commercial media content, and the democratic demand for free flows of information, diverse representations of ideas and people, and informed citizen participation."
some of the notables behind the website...

These links aren't deep, but they are entertaining for seoulbrother:
tedrall.com
Non-sequitor political humor and scathing satire of the US
theonion.com
A mock newspaper and an internet staple. Make sure to check out bizarre sex advice in the "Savage Love" advice column over in the "AV Section."
landoverbaptist.org
It's the church I attended while going to school in Iowa. "Where the worthwhile worship; Unsaved unwelcome!"
alienlovespredator.com
Sounds stupid, but it is actually a really witty on-line comic done by a Chinese American. All about life in NYC.
angryasianman.com
Self explanatory.
This is a short list of what is on my browser. I would be interested in seeing the sights everyone else checks out.

Here is a couple:
www.rottentomatoes.com
If you love watching movies/dvds, this site brings the goods. Reviews, news, celeb interviews and a huge forums community. I have discovered some of my favorite flicks here that I've not heard of previously.
www.head-fi.org
I am an audiophile there is nothing like hearing good music or a dvd from a high quality source. Due to having roomates in the house , I just can't 'blast it'. Therefore I resort to headphones, some of which are even better than a good stereo plus it also brings the sounds closer and more intimate to your ears. Be warned that some ppl spend thousands after just 'browsing' the site. :?

Well, I was hoping for a better response. Come on folks, what are the quirky, the odd, the interesting sites you play on? Here's another one I like:

No, it's not what you think. Their motto is: "We like to waste time"

http://www.lifehacker.com/
Their Statement: Computers make us more productive. Yeah, right. Lifehacker recommends the downloads, web sites and shortcuts that actually save time. Don't live to geek; geek to live.
http://www.thoughtmechanics.com/
Their Statement: Thought Mechanics is a weblog with the mission of informing people about important current events as they relate to politics. The goal is to create a more informed citizenry by providing subjective opinions on political news.
I'll add more later.

Bad astronomy is okay, though I haven't found the site very interesting after the dissection phil plait did on nancy leider and the world at collision days.
