i just finished my freshman yr at college and i took an asian american history course and gonna take a religions of china next sem cause i wanna minor in asian american studies..but i would really like to major in it but i see no viable application of that kind of degree so if any of yall know wat u can actually do with that type of degree it will be much help..imma be a mechanical engineer btw <==yea yea i know stereotypical..but ive always liked making things and knowing how things work

You can major in anything you like. I have a cousin who was an East Asian studies major at Columbia and now she's a dentist. I was a biochemistry major and I did my graduate work in microbiology (ok maybe not the best example).

I realize that the engineering degree probably has a lot more requirements than the Asian American degree so you're most likely doing the right thing by concentrating on engineering, but definitely enjoy the time you have taking your asian am classes.
