I'm not too familiar with the Cecilia Zhang murder, but how did we "sanction" her rape/murder? I can understand D's article and tying it in with imperialism, but was she an actual victim of racism? I thought she was abducted by a Chinese immigrant, and the Toronto police (and America's Most Wanted) did their job to help her?
Were there any racist undertones in how the police investigated or how the public reacted?

Woah, thanks LeaJade, for the props!
Just a note of caution: whereas the Vincent Chin case/ Feature was very straightforward, the Cecilia one was NOT, and was subject to a great deal of controversy. We now know, for example, that her abductor did not kidnap her for sexual reasons and in all likelihood did not rape her. Now, while that may actually give your piece of artwork an added dimension of depth/ commentary, at the same time it may expose you to some intense and unpleasant criticism. Just be careful what you do with this!

rainshowerz, there is a great thread where I think most of your questions will be answered.

I urge caution as well... I don't know how artistically inclined your school is, but I am believer in "lowest common denominator" effect. Deep messages are by nature hard to communicate and tend to be drowned out by voices of the loud, the simple, the short and the many. Especially in this case where "getting" the message does not confer significant/immediate benefits... and the facts does not directly support your message.
I think your work would be most effective in a workshop type of setting, where you can control context down to a T. For example, get a small group together, present the facts of the case as well as impact of sexual objectification and racial imperialism, show your artwork... THEN lead the discussion. This last part is most important to pre-empt obvious (and usually valid) criticism.
