[D here. Sothy and I have been buddies for a long time now, and we often converse on random topics over email. I'm going to be posting our Integral and Racial Identity-related conversations here. So far, he's been doing most of the writing, and I've been merely promising to respond. When I do, it'll be in these threads. If anyone else wants to jump in, please feel free. We're not operating on a super-high level here, though base familarity with AQAL and SDi is necessary.]
[A discussion on Wilbr's developmntal fulcrums, or phases. Sothy:]
Btw, regarding Wilber 4 and 5. In this article (footnote 6 in terms of referencing),
http://wilber.shambhala.com/html/misc/wheres-wilber.pdf
Wilber basically said that his work before Wilber 4 is useful in that it made up parts of Wilber 4, but that one can start from Wilber 4 (in terms of studying his material). However, Wilber 5 apparently builds on Wilber 4, it doesn't replace it (as volume 2 (or 3) is coming out of the SES trilogy, and it will be a Wilber 5 book). You still have to read SES after the new book comes out. Is this the first time that a new phase doesn't "replace" the previous phase? It seems to me with his old books (before SES) that the new phase corrected mistakes in the previous phase so the old books were no longer important to study in a sense (but useful of course).
It doesn't seem that way to me from what I've read on his website(s), regarding the new phase. He will apparently assume that the reader has read Wilber 4 and go from there.
post-metaphysics?...hmmm, well, like the rest of the planet it seems, I've read/know some metaphysics, but like almost everyone else, the intrinsic limits of metaphysics (in terms of language) are unknown to me (perhaps SES, etc. mentions this or perhaps this is what is really knew?), so I'm curious as to where he is/is going here...oh well, finish SES, start comtemplative practice, see if SES 2 is out...not too mention all of the other authors that are worth reading, some of which are just fun fiction books.
btw, do you know if parts 2 or 3 were ever posted to the article that I linked?
