That stands for overseas-Korean with American-citizenship living in Japan.
Anyway this site seems pretty cool, yet I'm still getting lost because I'm not used to the way things are divided up.
I'll be mostly a reader, but occasionally I'll add my two cents.
So as not to hide anything, I'm a white-looking asian-identifying hapa (who considers himself Korean before anything else), my father is Korean, my mother is white, I grew up in Maryland, and I now reside in Japan.
Oh and I'm 26.

That's funny because Bruce himself was the product of a product of a JohnYoko.
Either way, Bruce, Linda, John, and Yoko aren't Korean, so if I am going to be considered by these celebrity terms, I'd like to be called a SyngmanFrancisca. LOL

Heh, good one. SyngmanFrancisca has a much nicer ring than RheeDonner.

Whassup BeTheReds, welcome to the 44s, glad to have you aboard.
We really don't give a crap what ethnicity you are here, as long as you're cool. Hopefully this will help you navigate the forum:
If you haven't already, please check out our Declarations of Intent (http://www.thefighting44s.com/discussion/viewforum.php?f=1) to learn about our vision and stance (http://www.thefighting44s.com/discussion/viewtopic.php?t=536). Little Red Book (http://www.thefighting44s.com/discussion/viewforum.php?f=29)offers guidance for the type of posting we want to see here, and Integral Slanted (http://www.thefighting44s.com/discussion/viewforum.php?f=39) discusses the more complex aspects of Integral Theory and Practice, the principles of which we use to develop this site, and on which I conduct my life.
Finally, you now have access to Sleeper Cells (http://www.thefighting44s.com/discussion/viewforum.php?f=14), NC-17 (http://www.thefighting44s.com/discussion/viewforum.php?f=9), and Fight Club (http://www.thefighting44s.com/discussion/viewforum.php?f=28). The first lets you know if any 44s are getting together in your area; the latter two forums contain the most controversial and least reasonable discussions, so read them for fun but don't take them too seriously or think that they represent The Fighting 44s in any way, other than we like to kick up shit.
Thanks for joining, and have some fun!

Somehow I couldn't get it to the shade of red everyone else has.
But anyway in 2K2 I was watching on TV in MD at strange hours of the night.
I had rather mixed emotions during the USA vs Korea game, but I was pleased with the result.

Welcome. I find the plethora of forums to be infuriating and annoying as well. One thing that works well for me is clicking the "posts since your last visit" link on the upper right hand corner.
I would definitely like to hear your input here as you seem to be aware of some of the inherent contradictions with our mixed race identity (which is a lot more than I can say for other "hapas").
When I was living in Hawaii I tried to find Yi Syngman's old place so I could throw eggs at it or at least spit inside the mailbox. I ended up lost somewhere around Punahou. (Luckily that neighborhood isn't so rough.) I imagine that Yi's kids had an idyallic life in Hawaii, since most Asians in Hawaii think that the best thing that could happen to an Asian person is to be more White.
Lastly, I gotta brag a little bit. I was in Seoul during the 2002 World Cup. Shit was madness. I literally had to walk from 광화문 to 신존 because 1 million people were walking there to party and there was NO room for traffic. Buses that were stopped in the traffic were one big, slow moving, party. The roofs of the buses were packed with people shoulder to shoulder celebrating. It was the first time that I felt that Corean people were genuinely proud to be Corean (at other times Corean Pride comes out in an intolerant, over-compensating, and defensive way). It was an unforgettable time.
BTW: What are you doing over in Japan? Corea would seem like a more obvious choice...
Hope to see more of you on here.

With regard to the plethora of forums, it used to be quite the opposite: we had only one category and perhaps 7 or 8 forums to choose from. Now of course we have five categories and nigh-innumerable forums.
We have several reasons for doing this: to place more emphasis on certain types of dicussion and discourage others; to influence, in some slight way, the order of what things are read by the new reader; and of course to better classify/ organize subject matter.

Well we all go through the best of both worlds nobody understands me phases through adolescence, playing victim and searching for other hapas that will understand. Once you find them however, you realize that all this time, you've been fucking annoying everyone.

Whats up brother. Nice to know a hapa has a good case of K-pride.
By the way, Bruce had a German grandmother. None of that John-Yoko shit goin on there.

Oops, my bad.
My point was though, Who gives a shit?
I'd rather be called Korean than be called this kind of hapa or that kind of hapa.
