Hello all,

My name is Alex, I'm an ABC, born and bred on the Upper West Side/Harlem NYC. Came to this site a few months ago from a link on Suicide Girls, been browsing here every now and then.

Youngest of 5 children, and as far as culture goes, a total mongrel from going to mostly white public school through middle school, living in a black and hispanic neighborhood, popping down to and hanging out in Chinatown regularly, going to Chinese school for over a decade and reading a lot of stuff from all over the world as a youngster. I've got a self-made "cargo cult" culture and am proud of it.

Now since this stuff always comes up in all Asian/Western forums, might as well get it out of the way:

I could care less if there are some Asian girls who chase only white guys or vice versa. They probably deserve each other, both in a good and bad way.

I have historically more often than not dated Asian girls, though I've also gone out with a number of non-Asian girls, white, hispanic, black and whatever . My current GF is not Asian and I am very happy to be with her. I chose her over a totally hot Asian girl (I thought and still think hotter than my GF) who liked me because I had more common interests with my GF and I enjoyed hanging out, doing things with her and talking to her more than the other girl. In a romantic relationship that is what matters to me.

The Suicide Girls site is probably the one you are thinking of. It's the softcor porn site. The link was in the Asian discussion group, someone was giving props to The Fighting 44's. I joined it cause I wanted some advice on getting a tattoo (which I ended up not getting yet) and I figured a place where tattoos are admired but not over the top (a la full body tattoos you see in magazines) would be a good place to get info. Not that the other stuff on the site isn't interesting also...

Anyway, there's nothing really special about my "culture". It's just very much a mish-mash borrowing what I thought was the best or most interesting of whatever I was exposed to. It's hard to explain outright but I'm sure you'll see bits of it it in my posts.

I believe he is being loyal by not choosing to date her simply because she is asian. If someone choose to date me over a white, asian or latino just because I was black I'd be disgusted at their superficiality and racist attempt at nationalism. If they chose me because of my understanding of them that is bridged by the fact of my race, thats different.
You should be proud that he was able to see past the "lookism" and turn down the girl who was hotter because he related better to the girl who was unattractive.
It's like this guy would be in a catch 22 whether he followed his heart, society or plain and simply his dick. :roll:

Quite a number of the Suicide Girls (and not all of them are white) are intelligent, activist women who do give a damn about inter-racial, political, and social issues. Even if you don't agree with the way the Suicide Girls promote themselves, at least the Fighting 44s are being broadcast across the spectrum, rather than just a few select segments of the population. I found out about the Fighting 44s from another website which you'd probably hate on, so it's pretty much a moot point.

Heh, well there are asian girls on Suicide Girls, and they do have an Asian discussion group which is actually mostly populated by mixed race or full Asians with some philes...

Any don't get me wrong, my girlfriend is pretty, just not as hot as the other girl. I didn't see going out with the other girl just because she it would have been hot in the sack for a few months, knowing that we would break up because we didn't have much in common to sustain a longterm healthy relationship outside of sex. She's a very nice girl and really hot, just not a good fit for me, I don't doubt that she can and will find another guy whenever she wants.

Anyway, I do prefer Asian girls, but there's got to be more than just that. They have to be able to offer me a full package and I have to be able to offer them the same in return. Loyalty and respect can't be given blindly for nothing. They are only of any worth when they are earned.
