Count me in as a writer/social commentator. I've been doing web and graphic design for over 10 years and can definitely help in that respect.

This is kind of what I had in mind. For the article features, I'm thinking about something like a National Geographic featured article where it talks about a subject but you get a lot of pictures to go along with that.

As far as visage ( means: appearanace ) goes, I'm thinking about doing a photography section where it has men, women, and groups. That's where I gotta go ask asian men/women, couples to let me take photos of them...but thinking that I live in southern cali, I shouldn't have too much trouble with that....

So, hence, please give me some feedback...thanks!

Ricky.

That's pretty neat, but it can be made better and more professional by me, of course. /egoism
Do not put just Chinese stuff. Put Korean and Filipino stuff as well, as well as something that appeals to a pan-Asian audience, but with an American feel to show that we are Asian-AMERICAN.

Sounds good Taliesin, using what you see, do you think you can chalk up a sample for me???

thanks!

PS - its only a prototype as of now. Of course, I'd like a web site where unity is a common theme and all asian people can stick together. But the chinese stuff is the only pro-like stock photographs that I have and taken so far. But nevertheless, I hope you guys see my vision and what I want to achieve.

That's definitely a start. A very nice design too (I agree that it should have a Pan-Asian image to it, rather than just Chinese).

One other thing. What are the dating politics of that site gonna be like? How do you feel about interracial relationships? Pro or Con? I for one cannot support your site if all you're about is Asian girls - because we live in America. You cannot have men of other races work next to Asian girls, go to school with Asian girls, hang out as friends with Asian girls, and not expect to have some of them try to fuck them. And taking this into account, thinking that we have complete 'control' over AFs is ridiculous. First of all, women have rights (so we can't stop them from doing anything), but most importantly for us AMs to expect to 'get by' in the dating scene with this revelation in mind (that AFs are fair game for any race man) is just SUICIDE. I think it's utter foolishness. So I hope that you are a pro-WF, pro-BF, pro-LF Asian brother.

By the way, I suggest turning this into an Asian-American version of Men's Health/askmen.com website. Have professionally done picture sets of muscular AM fitness models demonstrating gym exercises. If you can, hire writers (or volunteers) to write pieces on exercise, health, culture(clash), SEX, dating, from a unique ASIAN PERSPECTIVE. That would be fantastic.

Just some suggestions from the Kalbster. I am REALLY looking forward to your website launch - I will help out once I finish school, which won't be too long.

Hey Kalbi,

Well, the thing is, its not suppose to be a dating site. Its suppose to be more of an "entertainment/educational" site where it talks about stuff like how media affects perception, race issues in america, dating, and such. And yes I very much support interracial relationships as I have been in several myself. But again, this site isn't aimed dating at all, its more of a site where asian american men can be seen (literally) in a more positive light. How many sites do you know regularly have pictures of postiive asian american images?

The way I see it, photography is a pretty good start. Cuz its something I can afford for now. And if we can put some good articles behind these pictures, then why not? And again, kinda like a national geographic magazine type thing where you get educational articles to pursue people's minds but at the same time have good photography for entertainment.

You're last paragraph about turning it into an asian american version of men's fitness is exactly what I have planned for the "visage" part of the website. ( we definitely see eye to eye there =) )Where people get to see pictures of AM fitness models, sex symbols...etc. That is exactly what I have in mind. But not only that, I also want images of AM with their friends, gfs, family, driving, just everything day life activities...vanity poses, whatever...you name it. The pics all gotta be professional and well done of course. I"ve also been working on betting writers for my articles and hence that's why I've posted this on this group, hoping I can get help or maybe have people spread the word so I can get volunteers to help me. I plan on going to some of the Cal States and UC schools here and see waht I can hook up with.

Your suggestions are great Kalbi, and I welcome more....

Hmmm, but don't you think that dating is a VERY important part of your overall plan to empower AMs, being as clueless (as a group) and emasculated as we are? In fact, I think it's crucial.

^Hahahah that's hilarous dude. I should've placed a bet on how soon you'd make a comment like that.

Kidding aside though I think TK has a good direction. If anything this could be the first site under D's "House"

Hey Tigerkhan, in case you missed it, I started up a thread discussing some ideas for your site as well as how we can all loosely coordinate/ work together. Tell me your thoughts!

Although dating should definitely be on the site, I don't think it should be the main focus. The main focus is civil rights/race issues. The second biggest focus should be dating and sexual activism.

Kalbi, I definitely agree with you that dating is very crucial to the empowerment of AMs. But with civil rights, race issues, dating, sex symbols, and other educational topics to juggle, I'm gunna have to go with the more basic and important issues of civil rights, racism, and media. Then I can think about extending it to dating, sex symbols and the like.

But like I said, if more people are willing and have the time, then we can all do this in a faster parallel fashion instead of a linear one-at-a-time fashion.

I think he's trying to take things one step at a time. As all of the aforementioned subjects are factors in AM empowerment, I'm sure that all of them will be touched upon. I agree that dating is extremely important; it's just especially difficult to navigate for us. It'll find its way there regardless of what's planned, I'm sure.

I don't know how useful I can be, tiger, but i'm willing to offer my assistance.

Hey Scowl, thanks for volunteering. I'll come up with a list of things to do, and if suits you and if it is something you want to do, then I can pair it with you. sounds good?

TheTigersRoar.com

Introduction ñ
The Tigers Roar is a website aimed at Asian American Men. It deals with self empowerment, identity, and education. Specifically, it will contain articles that talks about civil rights, media influence and representation, government, and such. This is to create awareness and to pass along educational messages that contribute to our cause.
It will also contain a section where professional pictures are shown of Asian American men. There will be numerous themes to the pictures. The pictures may have Asian American Men posing by themselves, with friends, with a girlfriend, family, etc. It may depict them in the office, out in the field, or maybe in a car. The choices are endless. But what is common is that these pictures should be professionally done, if not close. This is a simple start to create more visual and media representation, at least on the internet.

Articles ñ
There are two kinds of articles Iím looking for. The first one is a photo journalistic kind where the articles are coupled by pictures. A good example would be a National Geographic article. These articles use story, fascination, and images to drive the point home. They create a need and longing in the reader.
The second kind of article is very much like an educational paper that enlightens minds and makes people aware of the numerous issues weíre dealing with in this society. It educates, influences, and really makes people think about it days after.
Gallery ñ

As stated above, the galleries will have various themed pictures of Asian American men. The gallery will be contained in a portal of its own that accessed through this site.

TODO:

Web Site Designers ñ need someone to revamp the site.

Organizers ñ someone to contact newsgroup, local listings, schools, and any other social institutions to get people to submit articles and to volunteer for our cause.

Writers ñ
1) Topic - The article will be written according to a topic presented. E.g. ìHow does the Media influence?î This kind of writing educates.
2) Free Style ñ Write whatever you feel that needs to be addressed. This kind of writing creates stir.
3) Storyline ñ Journalistic articles. E.g. ìHeart of AsiaîÖ.then youíll write something where a woman travels to Asia, talks about the majestic and beauty of the land, the uniqueness of the culture, and falls in love with a hot Asian guyÖblah blahÖwhatever. This kind of writing glamorizes.

Photographers ñ
1) Photo journalistic photographers ñ the photographs you take will be paired up with the Storyline articles.
2) Glamour photographers ñ GAP like photography. Some great examples would be the picture advertisements you see from Banana Republic, GAP, Ralph Lauren, GQ, Menís FitnessÖetc.
