View Full Version : Creating a Kamikaze Website

This has been on my mind for some time, and the more I think about it, the more I think it's a good idea.

We used to have a ranking on this forum called "Kamikaze." They were in many ways the opposite of the "Snipers." They were ridiculously angry, sometimes rational, had a ton of biases and prejudices, and believed that Fighting 44s should be an exclusively angry Asian male website.

We have a few problems with this:

1) We didn't set out to be known as an angry website.
2) We didn't set out to be known as an Asian-only website.
3) We didn't set out to be known as a male-only website. Goddamn did we ever not set out to be that.

One of my aims was to experiment with the dynamic of the forum and see whether we could encourage healthy participation from people from at all cognitive/ moral levels (read the Integral Vision thread under the Declarations for more): ethnocentric Blue, modernist Orange, post-modernist Green, and Second Tier.

I no longer believe this to be viable. At the same time, I do believe an inclusive solution exists.

Kamikazes, we want you to create your own website. We want you to create a site specifically for angry Asian males to vent and say their piece. We know you have the intelligence and the skill, and we certainly know you have the time. Contrary to what you may think, we don't enjoy coming down on people here, and we certainly don't enjoy extensive moderation and banning. I wish we didn't have to ban anyone.

So anyone who's been banned, anyone who left of their own accord, and anyone who's still sticking around but thinks we've gone soft, if ANY of you read this, know that whatever you start will have our support.

Your site doesn't even have to be fancy: it could be an HTML front page and a PHP forum, and that's it. We'll link to it on our front page (with a warning of course), and we'll send over anyone here we think is appropriate. If some "pussy P.C." motherfucker finds your forum, you can send him/ her our way.

You could even call the site kamikazeroom.com or kamikazechamber.com or anything else you please. I really think this would work, and I really think it would have a good amount of support, particularly from guys like Fatfish, Dcyfer, Ric, VeryAngry, Rocket, and a TON of others.

And whenever some "borderline-psychotic" 44 (I'm looking at you, VA) feels like venting and going nuts, he can go to your site and do it, and whenever someone on your site is in a good mood and wants to talk philosophy or compassion or Art or other pansy-ass things, he can come here.

Someone get out there and DO this. You'll already have a good way of building your own audience through us.

It's been a week since my above post, and a lot longer than that since we first put forth the idea, and we haven't heard a peep.

I find it surprising that out of so many resourceful and passionate young men, none has stepped forward with even a brief message like, "I'm going to put one together soon. I'll keep you posted."

Considering how much these men "believe in the cause" and feel that they "deserve a forum just for them," you'd think we would have heard from one by now.

You will have our marketing support. You will have a base audience. Hell, I'll even go so far as to say that once I see a forum adequately up and running, Fighting 44s will send emails to anyone who's been involved with us (whether they've left, were kicked off, or are still around) who we think would like this site.

I mentioned in another thread that Lopan said to me, "These guys don't do anything. They just bitch." Is he right?

So everyone reading this, get the word out. Post in all the Asian forums that anyone who wants to start some kind of unmoderated AM-only site, you'll have our marketing support. We will no doubt be able to send people your way, and who knows, maybe you'll send some our way.

If you care so much, then fucking SHOW it.

I would love to host this site, but I'm on locked down with work, school, and my "tour of duty " with feds.

Can you guys host the forum? Maybe I can admin it or something.

Ric, we appreciate the enthusiasm.

We don't have the time/ resources to start yet another website and host a forum. We're stretched thin enough as it is. Plus, I'm not sure it would have the same effect or accomplish the same goals if we hosted it.

Any other possible takers?

You know, if it'll help get the ball rolling, I'll start up one of those free (read: popup ads) boards. The forums tend to be the main attraction, anyway.

I'd just need a name and a recommendation for a forum engine(?).

How about theYellowHorde.com? Or theMongolHorde.com?

'YellowFever.org" would be hilarious - imagine how many crackas with lotion and kleenex in both hands would stumble into our snakepit.

If you guys need a privately owned server (read: popup-free), drop me an email.

Go with whatever strikes your fancy. Pissing off less flavaful sites is a bonus. Just get the ball rolling!!!

Just to let ya know, I don't know if I'm prepared to run a site; my whole idea was to start up a message board just to get things going. As such, any name would just be a name for the forum/group.

Sent ya a PM, blue-kun. Your e-mail isn't actually listed under your profile. I guess I could have used your MSN messenger name, but I know that I never check mine.

If I ever do end up with an actual dot-something, "YellowFever" will definitely be under consideration.

I looked up Invision - looking through it, it seems as though the free stuff is software for running your own server. I guess I should have been clearer; I was looking for something that I don't have to host, myself, like ezboard, bravenet, etc. I see that IPB has that, but you have to pay a monthly fee for it.

Actually, I might consider paying money for something like that, but that would depend on a bunch of things that aren't a factor right now.

And Kwak76 is the first to attempt a less-moderated Kamikaze site!

If you have a prob with us, even mock the crap out of the 44s, or just wanna get your crazy Kwak on, check out www.asianamericanissues.com and spit like you've never spat before.
