Be it playing an instrument, composing, writing lyrics, or whatever. No matter if you're a pro or not. Is there anyone out there?

As for me... A little bit of classical music composition theory. Previous rock band experience as a keyboardist. Strong interest in film scoring, MV production, and all other areas that deal with integrating music with visual elements. 24 years piano-playing with 4 years of classical piano lessons. Very strong interest in Korean traditional music. Still play the piano and write short pieces (mostly piano impromptus, classical or pop-style) from time to time. Once dreamed of becoming a professional composer.

Music is something which I really want to be a part of, but I am currently lacking the time, training, and experience.

At some point in the undefined future, I'd like to take up Spanish guitar and/ or a traditional Chinese instrument.

I've been known to twang on a guitar and wail into the wee hours of the morning on occasion. :)

Used to play flute (Good Korean Girl), piano (VERY Good Korean Girl), and guitar.

My friends and I tried to form a band in high school. For some reason, the songs all consisted of the same one line chorus repeated over and over: You must die now, motherfucker.

Apologies to Blue-kun for somewhat derailing the thread. Where the musicians at? I wanna read musical talk!

I consider myself a rock musician.

I play guitar and bass. I should be playing at pro level by now, but it's been real tough for me to consistently practice. I sing, but I'm really no singer. Did the band thing, did a few gigs, didn't work out. I only played bass for gigs, 'cuz everyone and his brother wants to be a guitarist. I was learning piano, but that didn't last long. I used to know how to read sheet music. If I knew drums, I'd be a one-man band.

I actually have a bunch of original material, but I've just never gotten around to copyrighting it and getting it out there.

One great thing about it is that it really taught me how to truly appreciate music. Before I actually had to coordinate with other people, music just seemed like one big massive thing to me; it's difficult to explain. Now, being able to actually differentiate between different instruments, I'm able to really see how it all goes together. The bad thing is that it's made me into a snob.

I DJ, Freestyle/Rap, and I'm currently trying to learn how to play the guitar. I guess my id name really gives it away though of what music genre I like or music I like to do. I like some rock music though.

Thirteen years of classical/jazz piano for me too.

Now, I'm working on my singing and D.J.ing skills in my spare time. I'll be starting a gospel/R & B workshop soon (for some reason, I have quite a deep, loud voice for a Chinese girl) and although I'm lousy with vinyl decks, I like to think that I'm O.K. at setting up CD and mp3 playlists for dance parties.

classical piano/violin (good Japanese girl). Piano for 11yrs, violing for 8. Can't play either now (d'oh) since I haven't touched either instrument in over 10 years. I do love classical music, grew up listening to it, as well as the Japanese koto (my grandma played), the shamisen (ditto) and the shakuhatchi(ditto). There really isn't a style of music I don't like.

Punk rock band for @ a year. I was the keyboardist, but they let me in the band only because they liked my ever changing hair color, and I kept everyone alive and out of jail (most of the time). I had a lot of fun forcing them to sing pop songs punk-rock style (when they were drunk).

Sang classical/opera as a kid, but quit when I moved back to Tennessee (argh). Smoking killed my voice, I now sound like Janice Joplin with no range when I try to sing.

I'd like to learn to play guitar, but for now, I just do my best to bitch-slap people with microphones(emcee).

Neofolk/progmetal singing, keyboard, theremin, percussion, flute, synthesis production, miscellany.
BTW I am not the stereotypical Asian American kid, I started keyboard at age 15 because I got into prog metal.

My friend, dog soup, USED TO BE one cool musician...

He used to play for Tony Coleman (who was a drummer for BB King who went solo) in a blues band (sorry, forgot the name--Tony Coleman Band?) in the late 90s, and he used to travel with them all the time. While on tour, he met a bunch of groupies, who were mostly older, thicker, Black women who wanted Tony Coleman, but it made him appreciate the curvaceousness of these Nubian goddesses 8).

Tony Coleman and his band was the opening act for Ray Charles about two months after dog soup quit. If I'm not mistaken, dog soup could've been the first AA to be in a blues band.

After that, dog soup joined a ska band and played trumpet. The band was called bambaji (Korean for slippers, I think), which he obviously thought of. But he quit years later, and by the time he and I became friends (and neighbors) back in 2000, he had already quit Bambaji (but played for them occasionally). Since then, he has given up the trumpet and has been an on-and-off graduate student that he is today, where he's currently a grad student at John Hopkins University in biochemistry.

If this isn't a cool musical resume, I don't know what is!
