I was born to a Chinese bookkeeper and his secretary wife 30 years ago in the slums of HK. They, in turn, brought me into the United States 10 years later; settling between the parking lot where Vincent Chin took his final breath, and the cornfield where Timothy McVeigh built his first bomb out of fertilizer. That inhospitable frozen tundra gave me my will, my strength, and my character.
Through sheer hardwork and strength of will, I have risen to the top amid the infidels. San Francisco is my home, and it's where my heart shall reside for the rest of my mortal terms. I could have taken all the love and fade away, but, those of us who are successful need to think in terms of "us".
The future can't be bright without an understanding of the bleak past. That's why we are here... to learn from each other, and to do something in our little way to improve the lot of Asians in America.
Thank you for reading.
